Could someone recommend a psu that can hold 8 sata hd's

I currently have four sata hard drives installed. My current power supply has 400watts and only has 8 connections to the psu. I have the drives connected individually to each connection since I hear that using power splitters is a bad idea correct? Could someone please recommend decent power supply that will provide power to at least 8 sata hard drives?

Here are some of the power supplies that I ran across:

This one seems to have the most connections so I could connect each hard drive individually.

I just want enough power for at least 8 sata hard drives, 6800gt video card, dvd drive, and I have a socket 478 mb (IC7-G MaxII) and a p4 3.0ghz processor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Figure 20W a hard drive.

PC Power and Cooling power supplies are the most robust (and most expensive and noisy). If they rate a power supply at 510W, rest assured it will handle that and then some.

I too would recommend the PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI for your setup. It has two SATA power lines with three connectors on each line. If they put three connectors per line, you can rest easy those lines can handle the load. I would hook up six of your drives to those two lines and use a standard molex power line to hook up the other two. If your are really uneasy, use four lines and hook up two drives per line. That would still leave you a line to hook up optical drives and a floppy. However, I don't think such precautions woud be necessary with this power supply as it is one of the very best. To best it, you would have to go futher up the PC Power & Cooling family line to the 850 or the 1K. The 510 SLI costs twice as much as other power supplies in this power range (such as the Antec Truepower II 550) and for very good reason. The 510 SLI is twice the quality.
