Could someone help me define 'management'?

I am doing a project for my management class, and the instructor speaks about the definition having 'three components'. I don't have all of the material, so I thought maybe some of you smart guys could help me out. Any MGT people out there?

Thanks so so so much!!

First off, managaement is male (man)
Second, it is old (age)
Finally, it is used to flavor candy canes (ment).

There you go, no need for Google or teh wiki.

1. Steal Ideas
2. BS
3. Blame Others

😉

Seriously, open your textbook, it's probably outlined right in a chapter.

Knock Knock
Who's there?
Micro manager...ok, ok,..now you say "micro manager who?"

I suppose skipping your research and getting others to do your homework is a major component of management, so your professor should give you an A+ 😉

Be smart -- Buy your beer only when it's on sale.

Know when -- the date on the beer is expired. Bitter beer is no good.

Do right -- Don't *beer me* unless I'm done with the previous beer......that's just wasteful.

From wiki:

Company quality

During the 1980?s, the concept of ?company quality? with the focus on management and people came to the forefront. It was realised that, if all departments approached quality with an open mind, success was possible if the management led the quality improvement process.

The company-wide quality approach places an emphasis on three aspects :-

1. Elements such as controls, job management, adequate processes, performance and integrity criteria and identification of records
2. Competence such as knowledge, skills, experience, qualifications
3. Soft elements, such as personnel integrity, confidence, organisational culture, motivation, team spirit and quality relationships.

Which matches what I said

acquisition - Steal Ideas
allocation - BS
utilization - Blame Others

Shens. That's what a manager is not!

I know what you're talking about, but I totally forgot bc I took that class 4 years ago and it was an 8am class. When he asked the class we were all like wtf.

I agree that most of the definitions in this thread are much more accurate then the one that I had to put.

BTW, I was in the middle of an exam when I posted this, and my teacher sat us at completely unlocked computers to type it up.

It was great.

Realistically, no one knew what it was, so when one figured it out, we shared it with everyone. The point was to show what you know, so once I had those three words, I was able to type around 1.5 pages single spaced about it so...

Anyhow, that's my story.

I just finished the same type of class. There are actually four functions. I'll tell you what they are but the rest is then up to you.
