Hey I heard the Supraepress 56e external serial modem was one of the best 56k's out so I bought it. Well I get connection failed in UT alot and the internet runs twice as slow than my Flash 56II modem. I connect at 46,667 to 48,000 all the time. I am useing the latest drivers and firm update.

Anyone got any init strings and/or programs that would help me out? Also if ya do what settings do I use in the program?

Thanks

Doesn't look like there's much left to do.

I can only suggest leafing through the AT command list for your modem and finding the init string to disable v.90. This often helps as some modems are better at K56Flex than v.90.

You should also try briefly connecting to a new, free ISP to check your performance there. Since you are connecting at good speeds but not transfering well, you might try tweaking the MaxMTU and RWin values for TCP/IP in Windows. I think some one above posted a link that has the appropriate info.

At worst, you can simply return the modem for a refund minus the restocking fee, and pick up a $10 Lucent LT winmodem, which is well documented as yielding equivalent performance to hardware modems with good reliability and frequent driver updates.

Is your old modem a Creative Labs Flash 2 56K? If so, that is a great modem.

i am not sure about where you live since i dont know, but in houston, texas we have limited phone lines which only allow for a maximum connection speed of 50666 bps, which really pisses me off

Uh, 50666 is a terrific connection speed. Check around with some people on these forums, and you'll find you have nothing to complain about :)

Modus: Why did they have to put the devil's number in the connect speed? Spooks me out sometimes? I'll reconnect to get a number without that in it. Why couldent they just use 667 like intel?:)

does the connection speed actually matter? i usually get 50666-53xxx, but then cstrike still spikes badly. this sucks, is there anything i could do about spikes?
