More boost!!! :)

Actually, Ive considered chipping the car. Supposedly, you can get it to 340+ HP. THAT would be wicked :)

Don't chip it, all chips ever do is just turn up the boost. Get a MBC (manual boost controller) or EBC (electric) and then you can put it on normal boost for when you are just driving around and high boost for when you want that extra kick. Turbo cars always respond really good to any exhaust mod, a good downpipe will give you noticably faster spool time.

When a car starts out with a turbo its always easy to modify it a little and get quite a bit more power.

NOS.... Nitrous! NOS is a company that Holley owns that sells NITROUS kits.

Whoa... is that possible? That would be awesome because 90% of the time I am stuck in traffic anyways. How much would that cost? Can I get something like that easily in LA? Would it void my Volvo warranty?

Sorry for all the questions, I dont know much about cars.

Also, what is the ideal tire inflation? I understand that too much pressure makes it grip poorly, but too little makes it handle poorly? Did that sentence even make sense?

PS- Ill post pics soon

correction, NOS.
;)

Actually he really meant more boost. It is a lot better because you don't have to keep getting it refilled and the nozzle never sticks open causing your intake to blow up.

heh. now you're taking all the fun out of it.
of course, upping the boost probably also is doing hell to his engine. I wonder how much 'turbo lag' you'd get also.

damn.. i wish i had a turbo for my car.. i think it'd kick ass.

upping the boost from factory doesn't mess up your engine unless you run excessively high boost. Depending on what size turbo is already on the car, it could vary. Most factory turbo cars come with low pressure turbos, however, Volvo also produces high pressure variants.

Your car already has a limited powerband :p You need a higher redline and less torque steer ;) :p

should be written on the inside of your back door.. for best gas mileage, use what it says there.. if you're at the track, lower it by about 5-10psi to get the best traction.

I couldn't tell you if its easy to get a boost controller out there or not. Just hit up the local riceshops or check online. If Volvo can tell you've been tampering with the boost, they will most likely void any powertrain warranty you have on the car. But thats only if you break something :p

Tire pressure is dependent on the tires that you have on the car. Your vehicle manual should tell you what that is. Some tires even have it marked on the side. If you start to notice certain patches of your tires wearing down, then you should adjust the pressure.

You need NOS, then piston slap, and then a broken rod :p

As long as you can get the jump start and the shifting gear down, you can beat many many drivers and racer-wannabes.

Well said. Any fool can drive a car, but a real man knows how to handle it...

I actually think mine are below legal limits. Bastard used car salesmen. They started out as nice 17 in V rated tires though.

Just turn up the boost? What do you expect it to do? Make you breakfast?

In any event, "chips" are essentially new-reprogrammed ECU's. A properly programmed ECU will up boost, retard/advance ignition timing, and up fuel injection. Just turn up boost... ok...

Umm...how would you handle 340hp on a fwd sedan? I hope you have some sort of LSD and I also hope you hang on to your steering wheel during WOT runs! Also get some wide tires all around...like 235s or 245s..that would help quite a bit in putting the power down.

(spec v owns both :p)
What's the 0-60mph for the Nissan - Only number I can find is 8.6, nearly two full seconds slower than the Volvo.

Well, there is no question the he would beat me in curves (ie real world driving). Also, Ive seen flat 7 times for Spec Vs.
