Could my new 2.4GHz phone have killed my wireless router???

I know it's a sounds crazy but I just got a new 2.4GHz cordless phone not too long ago. Apparently it interferes with my wireless connection and whenever I would pick up the phone my internet would go out. I just lived with it for the past couple of weeks because I bought the phone online and I didn't feel like bringing it back. Well today for some reason I was unable to connect to my router. I tried restarting, resetting the router, etc and nothing worked. So I tried my laptop and I couldn't get a connection on that either. When I finally was able to get it to connect no web pages would load and I couldn't even get to the admin settings. I tried unhooking my phone in case that's what was causing the problems but no use. Did my phone somehow damage my router???

A 2.4Ghz phone transmission will interfere with a 2.4Ghz wireless data connection, but won't damage the hardware or firmware.

Then what happened to my router? I haven't even had it a year now and it's dead. I thought linksys was supposed to be good........

EDIT: It works when hooked up via the lan though but that's worthless......

Try the Networking Forum, they are usually pretty good with this kind of stuff...

It is, but all electronics can die, and Linksys, which good, is still cheap networking hardware. It might just be a fluke, maybe a power surge, etc. If you can access it from the lan, I'd try to flash the firmware as a last ditch effort.

Just out of curiosity, what benefits are there to having a 2.4 Ghz phone as opposed to say a 900 mhz phone? I mean, I understand it's the frequency that the phone operates on, but what is better about higher frequencies?

Better reception and farther range I guess.

900MHz vs 2.4 GHz
it's not greater range, or better reception. it's interference because 900MHz was filling. however, the 2.4GHz band is EXTREMELY congested now. so basically having a 900MHz phone is better. also, 900MHz will go through walls better than a 2.4GHz does. phones are entering the 5GHz range now.
but that's for phones.

You forgot to mention that 2400 MHz > 900 MHz so it's obviously better.

:D
