Edit: Did some research and came upon this article about the script for the upcoming movie Voltron. There are some things in there - like the fact they mention the trailer would come out on the day the Transformers was released, the movie takes place in NYC and NYC is devistated - that lead me to believe this may have been the trailer everyone saw before the Transformers movie. Could it be?

Warning: the article mentions a ton of info about the script, so you may not want to read the bottom 3/4s of it if you don't want semi-spoilers.
 
This is at least the third thread to this effect that I've seen posted, so I'm guessing the title was not revealed. Someone (Quasmo? Queasy?) posted a thread with a theory that it was a 24 movie.

Doubtful.

If indeed it is a Godzilla-type movie, I'm willing to bet it's trying to get a jump on the American remake of The Host (Gwoemul) slated for 2008. Great movie, by the way.

I didn't see anything there that made it doubtful.

Godzilla is another good guess, but since when was Godzilla able to make a huge fireball like in the trailer?
 
it didn't sound like godzilla, his roar is always the same. Besides all the godzilla movies fail. Something about a robot.
 
A couple of things I read said that the movie hasn't even started pricipal photography yet, so they are speculating that 1-18-08 is either the real title or the release date for another trailer or other viral info. That would make sense, as when was the last time a movie of that genre or spectacle was release in January, which is a pretty slow time at theaters due to the post-holiday tightening.
