Could it be? ASUS P4B533 with DDR333...

I've just rreceived the latest e-News newsletter from ASUS, and while it's mostly boring stuff (as usual) there was one sentence, regarding their presence at the ongoing CeBIT exhibition in Germany (13-20 March), that caught my eye:

"...Highlights include DDR 333 solutions provided on both the latest P4B533 as well as Socket A A7V333 and A7S333..." (follow this link...)

Now, I've heard the rumours that maybe the i845E might include DDR333 support, but I have not seen anything more than speculuation so far. Until now, that is. Or maybe ASUS is merely referring to some kind of overclocking here.

In any case, just when I wanted to get that P4B266, now I get to wait for the P4B533 instead. Which isn't all bad, IMHO, since this also means we're likely to get rid of the NEC USB 2.0 controller, which (though it works great) hogs the incredible amount of 3 INT lines.

Any comments? 🙂

<< P4B533 will not support DDR333 because 845e doesn't support it. >>

Yeah, I think it just adds "official" support for the 133QDR(533) FSB..

Well, why then would ASUS write something like this? Remember, that this comes directly from ASUS, not from some rumourmill. Of course, it may be a typo or just their way of saying "hey look, we're OC'ing the memory..."
I, for one, am intrigued by this. At least until I can find out more about this. And yes, I've read the specs on the i845E too (as we know them), but I also believe that Intel might be capable to surprise us. Nothing is definite, IMHO, until *Intel* releases the official specs...

If it is just DDR333 support you are looking for, you might take a look at the Asus P4S333 SiS645 DDR (Intel 478) that you can find here.

Nah... just Intel goodness for me. Besides that, SiS doesn't support ECC, and DDR333 would just be a neat bonus. It's not the deciding factor for me.
