I didn't really want to post this on ATOT, but I know next to nothing on this subject and wanted to get somebody's feedback before I got to a doctor and have him laugh at me.

I'm 24 and every once in a while I have pain in my joints (mostly ankles and knees). Not from physical activity but from just sitting around. I always thought arthiritis is something you get at old age, but I think I heard somewhere that you can get it at any age. Is this something worth goint to doctor? Other than this I'm in good physical shape.

Edit: Found this on WebMD Trying to read on on arthritis.

young people do sometimes get arthiritis

if the pain is enough to interupt your normal life/activities, then seek professional medial attention

good luck!

Yes, it very well could be arthritis. I have it in my knees, and the pain is worse when my physical activity is less.

You'll have to decide whether to seek medical attention. The best thing you can do is keep 'em moving. I've heard good things about glucosamine, but haven't tried it myself, so I'm not recommending it.

Since 10 year olds can have breast cancer now, it's very possible that you have arthritis.

It certainly is possible.

<--- was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 17.

It's entirely possible for you to have arthritis, but there are a lot of different forms of arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common, and that's just wear and tear on the joints. That's more likely to affect ankles and knees than is rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune disease that usually affects small joints like hands/feet first. Definitely make an appointment with a rheumatologist if you have concerns. It shouldn't take too long to go, and you may be able to get some help. Arthritis varies, but if it's rheumatoid arthritis it's fairly controllable nowdays, if it's caught early.

Could also be rheumatic fever as a result of an unchecked staph infection. I got that after having strep throat for several months (unbeknonst to me). The pain became quite acute for almost a month.

Go. Doctor. Now.
