I think not, because he started subsidies to exporters which are far worse than any tariff.

The Smoot Hawley tariff was terrible but it wasn't quite as bad as the export subsidies started by FDR because

there was at least some choice to pay the tax or to get what you wanted,
it didn't require as much taxation,
and it didn't open the door for companies to produce what the govt wanted... if you're subsidized, then the govt will regulate you.

So as terrible as 60% average tax on imports are, they aren't quite as bad as the Export Import Bank and they aren't as bad as the subsidies and bailouts because you have some choice to pay the tax with a tariff... you don't have a choice to not have your tax dollars spent on corporate welfare.

I'm not endorsing tariffs, but at least you still have one arm with them.

FDR was a terrible authoritarian (not like me) and the bloodiest U.S. President (I'll never be part of the ruling class) ever going on number of individuals murdered. I may contain no original thought (like FDR), but I've always seen through his deceptive ass since I was a little kid.

Why Hitler is regarded as the worst person of the 20th Century over FDR, Stalin, or Churchill, I'll never understand. I realized that Hitler was a Keynesian nationalist, but he wasn't on FDR's level of atrociousness.

Well let me think of the 70-100 million reasons why Hitler would be considered worse than FDR.

A420 I know you're sick but isn't there something you can do? You post in the most insane ways possible and I can't help but wonder if your medication is either prescribed wrong or you're not taking it.

Where do you get your information from by the way? Something must be inspiring you to write these posts? What form of media?

No there is nothing I can do. I don't want to do anything anyway, because I'm mediocre at best at anything I could do. I'm as helpless as FDR was and as helpless as George W Bush is... that's why I need to die young and save myself.

From the internet mainly wikipedia and LRC.:)

Because Hitler murdered shitloads of Jews
Jews aren't loads of shit and FDR murdered more Japanese civilians than Hitler did to the Jews... Hitler wasn't even the architect of the Holocaust, Himmler was.

I don't think you read very well. From Wikipedia:

Jews killed by Hitler: 4,000,000
Japanees Civilians killed:500K-1,000,000

Seriously, defending Hitler? You know, I am starting to think it is a good thing that these people are in this forum so the rest of us can see them for what they truly are. Now you know who the right wing caters to, make the left choice.

I don't know. They were both equally fond of putting innocent people in concentration camps.

Fascists of a feather stick together, I suppose.

Seriously, who gives a fuck? Do you sit around, and think of the most useless bullshit you could possibly think of, and then the next day see if you can top yourself?

As a vacuum cleaner manufacturer, I think Hoover would be more pro-trade.

I don't know "who gives a fuck" other than me, but it's worth debating whether export subsidies or tariffs are more harmful to individual liberty so the export subsidies will be more likely to cease.

That's how we change policies, we debate on ATP&N. Not only do we debate, we start the debate with wacked out posts like yours. It usually starts a good level headed debate this way.
