Could chips and salsa be considered a "Healthy Dinner"?

So you go into a mexican restaurant and 9 times outta 10 they are going to give you chips and salsa before your meal, these are suaully free and thus engorging yourself on them is hard to resist. So long as your not putting extra salt on the chips, isn't this almost a healthy dinner apart from the cheesy mexican food you get in addition to them? I mean slasa usually has tomatoes and cilantro and onions, thus getting your vegi/fruits, the only thing would be the tortilla chips being deeep fried in a fatening substance but if they were to be done in something like canola oil would it end up being a healthy meal?

Yeah, it's not really healthy at all. The chips are loaded with oil and simple starches and the salsa is loaded with sodium.

That said, you only live once. Dig in and then go for a bike ride.

ohkay what if the salsa is made by yourself with ONLY rfesh tomato, onion, cilantro, garlic, and and a jalapeno...no extra salt or anything...any heathier?
and chips are home fried using a cnola or vegi based oil....not from a bag...thus just from corn and water tortillas?

bake your chips. spray your tortillas with a little canola cooking spray and bake 'em. then, you almost got healthy.

If you had to ask or convince yourself... chances are it is not healthy for you.
