Could Bios Temps be off?

Hi All,

I noticed last night with my new Neo4 plat mb and AMD 64 3500+ (this is the 90nm model) that the cpu temps seem to hover around 28C for idle, and when I tried out Fary Cry the temp only rose to about 31/32 C. To me that seems a little low, I mean don't get me wrong amazing temps, but at the same time it seems weird.

My room during the winter can get warm but it usually stays on the cool side, and I do have 2 120mm fans blowing ride into the side of the case. Now granted I'm sure those are lowering temps (they did for my P4) but to only have a 5/6 degree rise under load seems a little strange.

Could maybe something be wrong with the MB? Or is the processor running that cool?

Thanks for any help,
Terry

Yes, it is off. It is pretty well known that motherboard thermal sensors are off. Sometimes by a few degrees C or sometimes by 10-15C. Just depends on the mobo. My MSI Neo2 is off I know that for sure, and I think its safe to assume that other MSI mobos are having the same effect.

No, your processor is not running that cool under load unless you have some extreme cooling.

Any idea what program I could maybe use to get a better idea of the temp, or should I not really worry about it and just let it go?

My motherboard is the MSI Neo4 Platinum/SLI motherboard btw. Or on MSI's site its just the K8N SLI Platinum
