I think too many people hate him because of how many lives and businesses he destroyed using dirty/below the belt tactics.

If that's all it took to get kicked out of the running, we'd have no politicians left. :D

I disagree.

If Gates were to run He would do better saying "yes i'm rich. i founded Microsoft and made it into one of the most succesful us business to date. I made billions that i now give to away and made it so you can drink you own poo!"

i would vote for him.

but as someone said why would he want to? he is doing far more good for the world with his foundation.
Look, let's be honest and drag out the dirty laundry...

What kind of role model is our boy Bill? The mofo dropped out of school. He ditched his partner and made 60 billion dollars, basically bleeding his users, which the company he founded continues to do. He then gradually sloughed off his responsibilities in his company and spent untold millions and millions building the mansion of mansions that's probably still in construction. He is the standard bearer still, arguably, for the most used OS on personal computers, so he gets the credit and blame... how many times have I cursed "Bill Gates" for the idiosyncrasies, bugs, shortcomings, just-plain-head-scratching vagaries of said operating system????? D:  o_O:rolleyes::':)(

Why in the hell would I vote for Bill Gates? I hate his guts! I would not vote for him. If he even ran I would consider it an embarrassment for the USA.

I'd vote for him over Hilary and Trump.

He can run as the "I'm not Hilary or Trump" party.

If Trump is on the ballot he will not be the Republican candidate, he will be an independent, i.e. part of the media circus. Honestly, I think Trump would do a better job than Bill Gates by far, but either would fuck things up bigtime. Of course, things are fucked up already, but neither of these guys are going to get us straightened out.

Pros:
1) I think he could run the country well fiscally speaking
2) He is held in high regards by friends like Warren Buffett
3) He cares about income equality (I think)

Cons:
1) No idea how he would behave in a war time environment

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

Bill Gates is doing a lot of great things with his wealth, but he has little charisma, little experience in politics, and he's not exactly a "leader" type of guy if you look at his record. Innovator? Maybe. Forward thinker? Possibly. Ruthless businessman? Definitely. Leader? Nope.

You could replace the words Bill Gates with Donald Trump, and most of it would be true. Yet he's still running :)

OK, OK... he might have a bit more charisma, but not much. Trump comes off as a pompous asshole to me.

Donald Trump is the polar opposite of Bill Gates. Trump is an example that was born into enough money to be always surrounded by yes men, and because of that he has a distorted perception of reality that only applies to him.

You missed my point. Maybe I was too subtle. Hillary was claiming she was poor, while she and Bill were raking in millions. So I was making a parody analogy.

If you like Bill, check out Bernie Sanders. Has a lot of the same ideals.

Sanders is who came up as my choice after using that website someone posted in P&N. Actually seems like a reasonable, thoughtful individual with some good ideas; a shame he has no chance of winning anything.

Was reading through a breakdown of all of the funds raised so far and it's crazy how far Jeb and Hilary are ahead of everyone else.

You don't know anything about Donald Trump. He was not born into money. His father was a contractor of modest success. Read Trump's book The Art of the Deal. It's a great read.

Wait, is he actually running? Or is this just a what if scenario?

If he is actually running, that is awesome. I'd probably vote for him if I lived in the states. He seems like the type of guy that is not just in it for himself but wants to help people. Sure he may have screwed over that dude back in the day who sold him Windows for like 5 bucks, but other than that he's always wanted to help people in need and seems like a genuinely good guy.

But since I don't live in the states, I want Donald Trump to win, it will be hilarious to watch that disaster happen from up here.

There's actually a chance we're going to allow the Bush/Clinton monarchy to continue. So to answer your question... yes.

OK, which is better/worse? Clinton or Bush in 2016? Myself I think another Bush would be sinister.

They're the same. No appreciable difference. People vote for shit, and they get shit. "I really like $candidate, but they'd never get elected, so I voted for $shitbag". Big mystery there why everything sucks :^S

I hate people with that attitude, same thing here in Canada. We have NDP which is actually for the people, then we have liberals and PCs, which are for the corporations. People always say "I'd vote NDP but they're not popular enough, so I'll vote Liberal or PC". Basically the 2 bigger parties are full of corruption so we just flip flop between each most of the time. If NDP came in it would be a game changer and Canada would probably be a better place but people don't want to vote NDP because they are the smaller party.

Of successful business men in the tech industry, one has already tried. H. Ross Perot. He tried to tell everyone what dimwits they are using pie charts but no one cared.
