ATOT: the best place to get medical advice.

Are there significant side-effects if you take that purple medicine for a cold (the one that says it can cause drowsiness) once in a while to help you sleep? Or Nyquil? Stuff like that.

no it should be cool, but make sure that you have 8 or soo hours for sleep, cuz if mighty put you in a deep sleep so you won't wake up when your alarm goes off. But also beware of taking it too often, your body could get used to it, then it will be really tough gettng to sleep.

^^^ What he said. Why the hell would you take COUGH medicine for sleep?

However, most OTC sleep remedies are crap and don't work.

Try the following:
- Valerian Root (capsules or tea)
- Melatonin
- Prescription medication

If you use cough medicine too much you'll build up a resistance to it. Then when you really are sick it won't help you.
