Costco's electronics returns - are they "grandfathering" in old items still?

I purchased an LCD TV last year, however it is beginning to misbehave. Does anyone know if when Costco changed their electronics policy whether they're still grandfathering in things purchased before the changeover?

I'll be using this soon as well. My plasma from July of last year has started blacking out, dropping sound, etc.

Yes. You're covered by the return policy that was in place when you bought it.

I recently returned a big screen TV that was purchased prior to the changeover. It took a little convincing to the Manager, but I was fully credited.

As far as I could tell, if they sold it to you with the policy stating 'defective returns accepted', then that is what you should expect.

Cool. I'm slightly perturbed when I turn on my TV but the screen doesn't turn on (1 out of 4 power-ons).

what happens to the returns? They trash them?

They either send them back to the manufactuer for credit (they are limited on how many units they can do a year) or they sell them to a salvage company for next to nothing.

Since they get a lot of TV's back that have nothing wrong with them (people simply upgrading since LCD and Plasma prices have fallen) they basically lose their ass on it because the salvage companies get them for pennies on the dollar.

It sucks that so many losers did this and ruined it for honest people who really do have a defective unit.

you're totally fine since you bought the tv before the new policy takes place.

btw...monitors bought from costco are still under the old policy/lifetime warranty!
