I am about to join one of these stores, and I was wondering if anyone in the community can tell me if there is a significant advantage to one or the other. Anything that comes to mind would be helpful.

I'm a member of Sam's Club, my girlfriend is a member of Costco...I haven't been able to tell a big difference between the two.

costco has hot dogs for $1.50 and comes with a refillable drink. and you can get a gigantic pizza for $10. i dont think sams can beat that because i dont think they even have chicken bake's.

Well, the deli at sams club has a 51oz pizza for 7.97 .. Ready to eat and hot.. I think their hot dogs/drink are somewhere around the same price too.

havent been to sams in awhile... have a card, costco is just more convienent. gotta check out those deli deals next time.

Yeah but you don't need a card to get the food.

IMO, I'd rather have memberships to BOTH stores because each one's stock varies slightly and sometimes one of them will have a much better deal on the same item.

Incidentally, my Costco is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the Sam's Club. Isn't that vierd??

If there was a Costco nearby, I might prefer it, but I've found a lot of good deals at Sam's lately.

It really depends on the store. We have 2 costcos and 3 sams within decent driving distance where I am. It really boils down to what you want. I like cosco's buyers programs (like personal check printing, digital photo development, etc) and their selection of products seem more high class. But Sams has more stores closer to me. It depends on how much you really shop and for what. Check out the stores and see which one carries the products you buy the most. You can normally get a 1 time shopping pass for free from each store.

Pick the one that suits you best. If you want later, you can still get another membership to the other place.

I have both right now - I like sams items better and the prices that I've noticed on exact same items were a bit cheaper at sams.

and whats with that costco brand, Richmond or Northfield or something like that?? Its on everything from food to clothes.

I was under the impression that they don't make anything but that label is slapped on everything to fit costco's branding. Its even on the tyson chicken next to the tyson label.
