Around a year and a half ago I bought a 22" monitor through Costco's website. About 7 months later the monitor started to die and another month or so after that it went completely dead. I RMA's it to the manufacturer (paying shipping =/ ) and got a new one about 2 weeks after I shipped mine off.

It's now been around another 7~ months and this one is crapping out too. I could probably RMA it back to Viewsonic again but right now they're 0-2 with me for monitors. Does anyone know if Costco would be willing to let me return the monitor to one of their stores and purchase a different brand/model? If not, I'll have to just send it off and wait for it to die again.

And before someone tells me to call CS and ask, I would have and will be if I can't find and answer before their CS line opens up again.

Thanks for your help guys!

I don't think Costco records the serial number, so I think you'll be able to return it. Should have done that the first time, would have saved yourself the money for shipping. Costco will refund exactly what you paid if you have your receipt, including shipping I believe.

Well, I *think* they may have just repaired my original unit and sent it back anyway. Sure hope they'll give me a refund though, even though I bought it so long ago.

Do you have the original box? That would help. Since you bought it online you'd have an e-mail receipt (unless you deleted it, and Costco only makes them accessible for 180 days I think). They can look it up with your membership card, but it helps to have the box with the item number.

I don't think they have a time-limited return policy on computer monitors

Shit :( I had the original box but sent the monitor back in it and they returned it in a plain cardboard box. I do however have my receipt still.

If you have the receipt you shouldn't have a problem. I just mentioned the box because it makes it easier to look up if you don't have the receipt. Don't forget to bring the power cord and an appropriate video cable - sometimes they're strict about that stuff. When I returned my broken Xbox 360 they looked through the box to make sure everything was in there.

i thought costco return policies for electronic are 90 days. Since the OP's LCD is way past the three months return policy time frame.

If it is still in the return window (they have different policies for different products), then you don't need the receipt and you don't need the box. They will look up the purchase based on your account number and as long as it doesn't look like it fell off a truck, they should take it back without the packaging. People do this all the time there. And in case you didn't know yet, you can return it to any Costco location.

Just another reason Costco rocks.

Sweet, well I'll drop by a costco this weekend and see if it all works out. If they do take it back ill be pleasantly surprised. Viewsonic on the other hand gets a big  from me.
