If you buy enough stuff there, the savings is way more than the membership fee. But whatever floats your boat.

The main reason to shop at Costco is the return policy. They recently set a limit of six months on computers. Otherwise, there's NO time limit on ANYTHING to be returned for a full refund. I know you folks are an honest bunch, but this goes for anything - food, clothes, software... I was in line last week returning a comp game and a lady in front of me was returning half a platter of sushi, saying it went bad after two weeks in the fridge. Money back no questions asked, don't even need a receipt, your purchases are tracked with your membership.

I agree... they have the best return policy of ANYWHERE.

I bought a $400 Nautilus power rack (bench/squat rack/cable pulls) there 2 years ago, and I bent the frame on the leg extension from using too much weight (topped it out with 4-45's, a 35, a 10, and a 2.5 cuz thats all that would fit... still did 3 sets of 15 easily). It stated the frame and materials were supposed to last for 10 years, so I took it back and got a full refund. I then dumped the money towards a $800 Nautilus smith machine which definately rocks my socks off.

Costco is great, and I will definately be a lifelong customer, due to the fact that they take care of their customers.

you get two separate cards. you just go in and go "i need to add a second person." the second person must be there because they need to take a pic for the back of the card. you get the card right then and there also. my bf is the primary, and i'm the secondary on our costco account.

costco's return policy is the best, but i generally try to return within 30 days. and with the box and all tags.

Each level of membership allows a maximum of 2 people under each account, one primary and one secondary. Only with the exception of the business member, which you can add an additional 2 people for $35. High rollers who spend more than 3000 dollars a month usually get recommended to upgrade to the executive card which gives you a 2 percent return on every purchase at costco. It's not a whole lot, but im sure people would love the extra money.

Now for returns. You can return everything at costco ranging from used tampons (im not kidding) to grapes (must be at least half entact), and only with the exception of computers which is 6 months. I've seen people return expensive message chairs to dryers and washing machines from 5 years ago. When returning items, a receipt is necessary in order to get a refund back to however you paid it with. If not, store credit will be issued. Again costco has probably (in my opinion) one of the best return policies in the industry. You're probably wondering how costco makes money with all those returns. haha.

If your purchasing computer parts, costco would not be your option because you can find much cheaper stuff online.

For the membership do you guys add two members on the same account or they are all together different ?
The reason I ask this is because someone offered to share with me and incase this is just one account two different users I don't want to share his liabilities like if he doesn't pay his bills on time etc. Do you guys run a credit check too ? I would like to get the membership but I don't want to get stuck by saving just $20.
I am interested in getting a TV. When you say I can return anything Does this mean that I don't need to buy an additional warranty ? I can return the TV anytime it goes bad.

you are on the same account.

it is not like a credit card, you pay on your way out. they only accept checks, cash, atm, and american express.

they don't run a credit check, you just pay for the membership.

depending on which name is the primary, however, is where the bill goes to for annual membership dues. (and of course, the awesome costco passport to savings.)

and in theory, yes you can return the TV anytime but they do track your returns, so if you're a habitual returner they can reject your return. (or at least, that's what i hope they do.)

You have to live in the same house as the other person on the account.

gluck,

I would also consider applying for the CostCo Amex credit card which has these benefits:
  • $0 annual fee for the credit card
  • Yes you still have to pay the CostCo $45/yr annual fee
  • Amex CostCo cc doubles as your membership card, it has the CostCo logo and your pic.
  • Earn up to 2% rebate on purchases.
  • Amex card benefits such as Buyer's Assurance, Purchase Protection Plan, etc.
  • Because I fscking said so :p

Become a member of Costco ASAP!!

The membership fees, for most of us I think, should pay off after the first visit. Heck I have probably made my money back from the membership fee just from buying their good but cheap hotdogs and/or pizza for lunch!

get a card, their return policy is awesome, you can basically return anything, anytime. my mom just returned a cd player from a year ago because she dropped it and it broke
