costco always has these deals on michelins. they were giving away palm pilots back in the day too.

too bad michelins cost a ludicrous amount and costco generally doesnt have much of a selection. that and a lot of michelins suck (pilot sports excluded).

i suppose if you HAVE to get the oem tire for some reason, its a decent deal. i think install is more or less free at costco too.

That seems like a really low price to pay for the single most important part on your car. Kinda like paying for discount airbags. I would definitely check www.tirerack.com for ratings before purchasing any tire. That said, they could be perfectly good tires. When do we find out which model?

I believe the sale is that you get $60 off the purchase of a set of Michelin tires, not a set of Michelin tires for $60.

Size: 245/45-17

Pilot Sport A/S (Ultra high performance all season)
TireRack - ~$875 shipped
Costco - $858 after discount before tax ($919 after 7% sales tax for NC)

Pilot Sport PS2 (Max performance summer)
TireRack - ~$871 shipped
Costco - $863 after discount before tax ($923 after 7% sales tax for NC)

So not terrible if you need them sooner, but remember you do have to pay installation + fees for TireRack. I know NTB has price matched Tire Rack (with shipping) and I just paid for installation & sales tax.

Hmm, I checked out the local Costco today and aside from the tire deal, all the instore deals on food and groceries, electronics, everything was a lot more expensive than Best Buy, Circuit City, and Stop & Shop prices.

Anybody have a better description of this deal? The closest Costco is 30 miles away and I don't have a membership. I need to get tires for the wifes impala and would take it there if the price is right.

Yup! Thanks to the few folks who've abused the Costco great return policy.

Pretty simple. $60 off a set of 4 Michelins (ANY) or they also have $40 off any set of 4 BF Goodrich. Dont know what else you need to know. No rebates.

Now I just need to figure out what tire to get. I have been looking at the hydroedge. They are rated well in the tirerack surveys but some say they are noisy and have balance problems.

As for me and my Subaru, saving $15 per tire that costs $207.99 each doesn't do too much.

Wow! What an informative post! Thanks for that one.

As for me and my Subaru, for tires that are ~$82 each $15 off is nothing to sneeze at.

Also, mounting and balancing is included in the price along with free flat fixing, rotating and balancing of tires for as long as you have them. So a good deal all around. Unless you have a super Subaru that runs 200+ dollar tires, then saving money is the last of your worries.

The deal used to be $80 off, I assume until Costco opened membership to any fool with $45. Which lead to return policy abuse, which has lead to higher prices and a decline in the overall quality of Costco stores. Member since 1990, so I have some perspective.

MAN...did you guys miss the boat!!! What I was trying to say is that with the limited selection Costco has in my size to get the $15 rebate I would have to buy a $207 tire. Makes no sense when I can select quite a few tires (other brands) for under $100 each
from TireRack.

I think I am going to get a set of these for the Impala. $550 installed at Sam's club.

I prefer to avoid Firestone and Goodyear brands.

Maybe I'll see if we need new tires. if we do I might go for this costco deal.

i replaced my oem michilin mxv4 which well suck ass for basically anything but tread life (pretty much every honda or acura product apparently comes with these)

with yokohama v4s.

the yokos do quite last as long, but they have superior grip in the dry and wet. for example the mxv4s would chirp at stop lights and lose traction on curved on ramps etc. they are horrible tires. they also cost $200 a piece for some reason.

just say no to michelin touring tires.
