Costco Memberships free in Kansas City

Hi everyone. In Kansas City, at the Lenexa, KS location Costco is giving away free memberships. Just thought that was a hot deal!

Thanks... I am heading into KC tomorrow anyway (Sam's Club @ 95th & Quivira, ironically 🙂) so I'll go check it out!

I went tonight while passing it and thought I should stop by. The only thing you need is a valid drivers license. I got there about 5:30pm and it was pretty slow but at 6pm is when the fun began. They had a little party where you could look at the items in the store and they had eight buffet tables full of food. I called my other bachelor friend and we had dinner thanks to Costco with free memberships! Gotta love being a bachelor at times!

Earlier in the year, a Costco was opened in St. Peters, MO, which is west of St. Louis. One was offered a free one year membership and a coupon for free film processing. Another Costco has been open, like last summer, just north of the I-270/ I-55/I-255 interchanges in the south end of St. Louis County.

Since it a twenty minutes drive to the St. Peters Costco for me, it's a store not on my regular list. However, I did make a stop last week. By the front door, was an X-Box display. For $419, you got the machine, two controller, and two games. There was sign that stated a limit of one per member

Techno--any idea how
long they are going to give the memberships away?? Is it worth the drive from Lawrence??

Thanks Technocrat

Stopped in this afternoon. The parking lot was *full* and I was prepared to see long lines at the membership counter. Not so! They had 4 fast moving lines, and in ~5 minutes I had 2 new cards. They also have mail-in coupons that are valid for 45 days.
The store was busy but the checkout lines were short.
Didn't see any outstandingly hot deals.
Only bought 2 maglights for $12. They had regular gas @ .97 for members.

I am hoping the competition causes Sam's to get a little more competitive!!

As to the OP people, I know of like 10 people on the forums from OP, and many that are FS/T only types as well. We should have a swap meet.

Also, if anyone wants to link up XBoxes over the INet in OP let me know. I need some competition!

Thanks Technocrat for posting this. I stopped in this morning at 10am and got my free membership. I also found the area of the store where they were providing free breakfast! 😛

BTW everyone, the cashier told me that they will be offering free one-year gold memberships until January 6th.

Heh, after I left Costco I went to Sam's--it was DEAD! 🙂

<< There's a Costco opening in Pittsburgh tonight too, they also are having free 1-year memberships. >>

Jeraden - Do you know how long Costco is offering free memberships? I live in the South Hills so its a long hike up to Cranberry.

BTW - there is a Costco opening at Robinson Town Center in summer 2002.

Thanks.

another KC boy here. keep the thread up and see who else we have in the area 🙂

btw, if anyone local wants to trade MP3 i have ~90 gig to offer

It's good that Costco is expanding around KC - to give Sams a bit of competition. I also would be interested in swapping/trading hotdeals with other people here in KC to avoid the shipping charges. I'm thinking about trading/selling one of my Phillips Tivos - still new in the box, Model 212, I think it is...
