good points beer...I just hate to spend $200/tire🙁

do what I do: blame the Chinese building boom for driving up the price of rubber and guaranteeing that every where I go tires are out of stock. I feel much better that way.

I just spent $145 a tire for 205/50/R17

Costco membership is gauranteed. Buy a membership, by the item you want get a refund for the membership.

Profit!

If I felt I was being ripped off I'd consider that, but I've been completely happy with my transaction, so I won't be an A-Hole.

Coscto membership is STUPID.

Get this, if you forget to renew your membership, or you don't buy that often, and say let it slide a few months, then go back in at a later date to renew, they subtract that time.

Meaning, you didn't renew for 3 months, then go back to renew, they'll only give you a 9 month renewal.

Their reply was they want to keep the memberships renewed when they expire otherwise you get a deduction on your new card.

Talk about stupid! 🙁

P.S. Let us know if you experience this too.

Stock up right before the membership is over and then switch to BJ's/Sam's Club. Actually it seems like when the membership expires if we wait a couple months we'll get a free 60 day membership. Go once at the beginning and once at the end and we're good for at least 3 months then we switch.

My favorite perk is the costco amex card. Cashback: 3% at restaurants, 2% on travel, 1% on all else. I got $60.00 back last year in 9 months of having the card so it was a net gain on my membership.

3% restaurants?!

does that include mcdonalds and starbucks?

Yep but only if they accept Amex.

Yep. I got mine in March and already have $21 with another 10 bucks in few days. At least it will pay my Costco membership.

I just want to make sure that if I pay the surcharge I get the Costco 2 Year Warranty and Return Policy. I really only plan to use the membership to buy the one item.

Costco extended warranty REQUIRES a membership (i think its in the fine print). They wont service you if you have an expired membership. Someone correct me there...

It's an online only deal, and price matching requires the retailer to be "local"

And most places won't pricematch to Costco because it requires a membership.

It's a $10 difference and it will give you the membership for a year. Take a trip back in a few months and see what else you see. Worst case your down a massive 10 bucks.

Yes, do this. You can easily save $10 at Costco.

does costco have good prices on tires?

Their tire prices are competitive. They include installation, lifetime balancing and rotation, and a puncture warranty. They have occasional $60 coupons on Michelin and BF Goodrich which makes them a great deal.

Is Costco better than Sam's Club?

eh... depends on the deals and what you are looking for. For some reason, people seem to post more in-store Costco deals than Sams. Maybe there are more Costcos than Sams? Aside from special deals, they are the same to me product variety wise.

One thing is that my parents have stopped going to Sams and go to Costco more. Costco is closer to us, but them being indian parents, I would bet that costco has cheaper prices than Sams, at least on the items that they buy 🙂

With that Amex card, in order to get % back do you have to have the balance on there a certain amount of time? Lets say I spend $200 at costco, put it on the card and then go home and pay it off. Will I still get the %1 back on it?

Why wouldn't you? Yes you will.

I love the 3% rebates at restaurants
