Cost of running a space heater?

Getting extra chilly in my room to the point where I can almost see my breath waking up in the morning, and figured a space heater would be a good investment.

Anyone know of good brand or recommendations for a cheap one? Should I just super overclock my desktop instead?
 
Overclock your desktop. Even better buy a 2nd computer instead of the heater for downloading and being a file server.
 
The space heater I used a couple years ago was great on electricity. It took a little bit to warm up the place, but once it got going, it was damned cozy and with very little added expense.

If you're going to sleep with it on, make sure you get one that will shut off if it's knocked over and don't be stupid about where you put it and what you put around it.
 
Using a PC as a heater makes sense only if you need to max out CPU useage anyway, because PCs aren't effective as heaters (unless you have really inefficient parts). If you are running programs overnight, or have DC programs that you don't mind running at cost (electricity) I say go for the overclock and/or buy another PC.

If you would rather save money, a space heater makes sense.
 
I've got oil heaters in two bedrooms and they seem to have raised my bill by only a couple bucks a month over previous years.

They are slow to heat up, but if you just let them run they keep the room nice and toasty.
