Cost of Rear Sway Bar Link replaced?

Hey everyone.

I took my car in for suspension problems. It's an '04. The front has bad control arm bushings. That's covered by my warranty. The rearSway Bar Links are not covered. They told me that the threads are stripped.

They want to charge me $215 for labor, parts, and tax. This sound about right? It's at the dealership.

errr, that would be under warranty, as that is not a ware and tare part....AFAIK.

Is there a reason you think they got stripped? You let someone work on your car that was not the dealership?

Yea there would have to be a reason they voided it. Either different sway bar or something else.

That would be my thoughts...he never said he modded it or anything...but that seems like a fair price OP..for OEM parts and dealership installation.

I bought the car used, and got a 3rd party warranty. "Silver" package. Front suspension is covered till 100k miles, rear isnt covered as much. this falls under the lines of the one it isn't. I looked at this guide, and wouldnt seem to tough to do it myself:

If I can do this myself for 50-$100, i'd rather do it myself. (if its easy enough)

If your rear sway bar links are like what is shown in the photo, then it is easy to change yourself. Unless the old nuts don't want to come off, from the stripped threads. Then you would need to use a Nutcracker to split the nuts and remove them. When you install the new links, tighten them until the bushings just start to squeeze a bit ... do not let them go past the edge of the washers and do both sides the same amount.

Me thinks that they are only replacing the sway bar links, which are only $10 or so in my experience. It's literally two bolts, however if one is stripped it makes it much more difficult.
