I'll ask the cable guy when he comes, but I'm interested in knowing what a fair price is. I know I can do it myself, but I work 60+ a week, including weekends and don't have the time.

What would I pay to have two jacks installed. Two story house on a crawlspace, drywall construction. There is a working cable outlet, but it's not in the place I want it.

Any idea?

Depends on whether you have him install brand new boxes or put the cable in an existing box, e.g. converting a single phone jack to a combo phone jack + coax outlet. If you can go with the second option; it's more than likely going to be both easier and cheaper.

well, we just moved into a 4 year old house that already had cable outlets in all the rooms. The outlets in the rec room above the garage didn't work when they turned on cable when we moved in. They messed with it for an hour or so, trying different cables and a different jack in the room, and almost gave up. To run a new cable from the wiring closet on the second floor at the opposite end of the house to the existing outlet (crawlspace, attic, drywall) was going to be $75. That was going to be with a Comcast contractor. Fortunately it didn't come to that. The last thing they tried fixed it. The connector on the wall plate had went out. Replaced the plate and bingo, cable TV!
