Cost for a custom Built in book-shelf ?

You know, on occasion I see places like Costco selling bookcases that you assemble and they run about $200-300 and are about 3.5' wide. I've also seen them with lower cabinets below and shelves above for the same price. At $3400 you could buy ten of these and cover 36 feet of wall space. Of course this means sweat equity since you would have to assemble them, but then just reduce the number of units and spend the difference on a Latino or two for a Saturday for the assembly.

The one bookcase I bought like this was f-ing heavy as hell. Most of it was oak, but a couple of hidden components particle board. But the main frame, facade, shelves and trim were all solid wood. I think I paid $200 for it and it took me and my fat lazy ass a couple of hours to assemble. I always thought the next time Costco sold them for $200 I would buy five and head to Home Depot for labor to assemble them.
