cosmetic surgeon powered his 4x4 with his patients' excess flab

I would assume fumes from gasoline would be worse since if you go to any fast food restaurant they use fat to cook everything in so nothing really worse.

lol

Do you even know what biodiesel is? 😛

I don't know what to make of the article. It wreaks of BS, but it is possible.. lol

Eh?

I'm going to play the intellectual laziness card and simply suggest that you learn a little bit more about how chemistry works before you push the panic button.

Recycle FTW. What else would you do with excess flab anyway?

*huge lady steps in*

Dr: "Wow, no, don't pay me, I have to pay YOU. Do you realize how many months of gas you will save me?"

You kidding? To him, this situation is akin to a big refinery paying someone to send them oil, processing it into fuel, and then paying someone else to take the fuel off of their hands. I'd take that deal!

The same way that people convert cooking oil to biodiesel. There's a lot of energy in tham thar carbon bonds.

Do you think that the people who make meth and crack hold PhDs? Doubtful. Chemistry doesn't care if you're educated or just looked up a recipe online, if you do it right, it works, end of story.

Also, considering that the risk with medical waste is toxicity and infection, and the standard procedure to render it safe is to expose it to high temperatures and pressures to break it down into simpler substances (a process remarkably similar to the diesel engine)..where's the health risk?

It's a weird story, don't get me wrong, but it's plausible, and IMHO the only concerning part about it was letting his unqualified girlfriend do surgeries.

Because you can't run soap in an engine.. lol

Yea but you can blow stuff up with it or sell it back to the expensive boutiques so you're essentially selling people back their own fat. Oh and this is an original idea. Not taken from any move or book at all.

Yes you can. A byproduct of biodiesel production is glycerine.

I call BS though because i've never seen a diesel explorer or navigator

My GAWD, are you really that ignorant? :Q

'Not only do they get to lose their love handles or chubby belly, but they get to take part in saving the Earth.' U.S. authorities are less impressed and have launched an inquiry into his claims that he is converting the waste fat into bio-diesel - or 'lipodiesel' as he calls it.

Uh, no. If they want to save the earth, they need to stop eating so much, and instead of driving the SUV get a smaller car. 😛

The amount of meat they probably eat to get that big vastly outweighs any environmental benefit from using their fat as biodiesel. I get the feeling most people think all foods take the same resources to grow.
