Wasn't the discounting of non-Z51s entirely due to GM forcing allocation on dealers? As in they had to take them or they couldn't get the Z51 models they really wanted to order.

I don't imagine we'll be seeing factory rebates any time soon they have a massive hit and they're well aware of it.

Hmm. I wonder why they are increasing it. The link won't load for me for some reason.

A dealership near my house has two gorgeous ones parked out front. I keep thinking I should go in for a test drive one of these days.

It isn't that they had to order non-z51s to get z51s.

It's more like this:

Dealer allocation comes up and they aren't given the option of z51 for that allocation.
They can choose to order a non-z51 that will no doubt sell.
Or they can choose to not order *anything*.

This process won't affect their allocations that come up with Z51 availability *for this year*, but then their corvette volume goes down and they don't get as many allocations next year (for say, the Z06 models).

So again, it isn't that they're forced to order the non-z51, but why wouldn't they in that scenario?

Z51 was an underpriced option at $2800. The new cost of $4000 is probably more in line with the value.

Hmm. I wonder why they are increasing it. .

Maybe they are sticking to their addage of "If you could afford the last Corvette, you can probably afford this one"

Then they realized people who can afford a $50k toy car can afford a $60k toy car or $70k toy car

My Z51 order (that I got below MSRP) got in about a week before they announced this. Dealer called me, I'm price protected at the agreed on price. Now the long wait begins.

Ordered from a medium-large dealer who ensured me he had plenty of allocations and I would get one. Hoping to have my car by May. Part of me wishes maybe I had gone with a larger dealer because I've seen guys who did get their cars scheduled for production already. On the other hand, there is still a ton of snow here and a warm up is nowhere in sight, so if I have to wait a bit it's not a big deal.

I'm not surprised by the hike, I was thinking the original MSRP was too good to be true and seemed too low for what you get.

anyone who spends 100k+ on a domestic has issues.

That's retarded, there are several "domestics" that are worth >100k. If you've not driven (or even just seen) a Saleen S7, Ford GT, or Falcon F7, I doubt you'd understand. Even the top tier Model S is worth every bit of its $110k price tag, because it smashes Euro rivals from BMW, Audi, and Benz that are 20-40% more.

If I remember correctly, the same thing happened after the introduction of the C6. GM did a mid-year price increase back then too.

*However* if you're eligible for a supplier discount, your price is less than it was before this increase.

I still came out ahead because the trade value of my old car has plummeted in the interim.

Still considering picking up a z06 in 2015... but want to see the pricing first.

I'm guessing they start at $85K and if you want the carbon fiber track aero package + carbon ceramic brakes you can get it up to $105 - $110K.

Then again I'm most likely completely wrong, only time will tell.

The Z06 will be north of $100k with all the better options, but it'll be worth every penny and competitive with cars 2-3x more expensive.

GM has repeatedly said the fully optioned car will be under $100k (so I assume that means right at $99,999).

I am guessing high 70's for the basic z06 from that information.

Yeah I'd guess that the base would be in the high 70s. I don't need the CC brakes, cup tires, etc... I'd like the aero level 2 with minimal interior upgrades (guess it will be in the mid 80s).

I would take a lighter, stripped, v6 350hp version for 30k

(Still must have the same suspension, brakes, dry sump, aero, and cooling bits though)

LOL.

you really think a different engine and interior bits add up to 30-40k?
