anyone know if there is a substantial difference between these and the version with the platinum heat spreaders? I have pair of the platinum version and since those are not on sale i am wondering about mixing the 2 sets...

If you aren't overclocking, you'll be fine. If you are, I'm not sure.

😀 No problem.

If you have a mild OC on a C2D with a 1066mhz FSB, then you should still be fine. More than likely you aren't even overclocking the memory.
 
just wanted to post back in case someone else had the same question as myself...

according to Corsair tech support, the only difference between the

TWIN2X2048-5400C4

and the

TWIN2X2048-5400C4PT

is the color of the heat spreader, ie- it is only a cosmetic difference. one heat spreader is black, the other is platinum. as long as the sticks are from the same revision, it's all good...

i'm diving in for another 2gig!

I have a pair i bought last year for quite a bit more, great sticks though

I really want to jump for another pair but i'd have to buy a whole new copy of windows to go along with it or i'd really only be able to use half a stick with my current GPU.

The price at your link is $57.99 AR today and the rebate shown is from 9/15-9/21, so maybe yesterday was the last day for this deal and, thankfully, today's deal is better.
