I just got this new comp with 2x1 gig sticks of matched Corsair XMS 3200c2 everything went together fine, but when I went to look at the memory timings CPU-Z said they are at:
201 MHz
3.0,3,3,8, 2T
This seems to be wrong, I am kind of new to memory timings but isnt it suppose to be at 400MHz 2.5, 3, 3, 6 1T, or close to that. If my settings are wrong how would i go about correctly setting them to be right, I dont really care about over clocking. Thanks

If you don't care about overclocking I wouldn't worry about it. The performance boost from marginally faster memory is... marginal.

Pc3200 memory runs at 200 mhz, so that is correct, and the timings don't look off to me. Maybe a wee bit loose. You should be able to run at 1T I would think.

Hi Hypnotics,

Yeah, for some reason now seems all the new Corsair ram will SPD or auto set at those timings. Whether it's VS or XMS. I've noticed this trens with the sticks I have purchased recently.

I don't have your mobo, so you'll have to refer to mobo manual. In the BIOS there will be place to manualy set the timings (often select "expert" which will bring you to sub-screen for that). Also, there is often a range in the first screen offering such selections as "Most Stable","SPD", "Turbo" etc. If you don't wanna use expert and set each parameter yourself, try Turbo ect until you find the settings closest to what you want.

Those SPD values are always set to looser timings just in case some mobos can't handle the rated timings the RAM are actually rated for.

i.e. my TWINX1024 3200C2 RAM also has an SPD of 3-3-3-8 2T but I can run it fine @ 2-2-2-7 1T up to 215Mhz . . .

The TWINX2048 are generally very good overclockers considering they are a 2x1GB set.

At 200Mhz you are pretty much guaranteed 2-2-2-7 timings and 1T (if you DRAM voltage is set to 2.75-2.85v) since you are on nforce4 chipset.

At 250Mhz you can probably run then stable with 2.5-3-3-7 timings and 1T

I've heard this ram go up to 275Mhz with good timings as well . . .

EDIT: Okay apparently only the 512MB modules can do 2-2-2-7 reliably at 200Mhz because the TWINX2048 3200C2 are not TCCD . . .

Mine seem to be running pretty damn fast. I just need to adjust them. And what other 2gig set would to suggest.

Yea, my 2 x 512MB's defaulted to some pretty loose timings too 2.5-7-7-9 2T, or some such nonsense.

They're running fine at 2-2-2-5 1T at 2.6v.

I second that.
My pair of XMS even comes with different SPD settings in each chip!
Something is loose with Corsair, and it's not just their memory
