Corsair Vengeance K90 Keyboard?

Hi all,

Anybody have this keyboard? I am thinking of changing my keyboard to the Corsair Vengeance K90. It has a really nice finish and sense of quality to it. It has raised keys for ease of cleaning with aluminium underneath. The major keys are mechanical but the less used ones are not. This isn't a huge issue for me but it would have been nice to have full mechanical keys. Its a little pricey but I like the quality finish of it and it would compliment my case and monitors and look nice on my desk! 😛

I like the way the macro keys are lowered compared to the other keys. I have macro keys on my current keyboard but I keep pressing them instead of ESC and CTRL etc.

It has some good reviews

The positives:

  • Stylish
  • Quality finish
  • Backlit
  • Programmable keys
  • Mechanical keys
  • Handy volume control

The downsides:
  • A bit pricey
  • Not all keys are mechanical (not a biggy)

Here is a detailed review I found on YouTube.
(I only watch the first 10mins)

So any thoughts? I am a casual gamer but I do like to have quality hardware.

I'd probably buy the K60 instead. It's similar but lacks backlighting (doesn't matter to me, I never play in a fully dark room), and it lacks the macro keys which I don't need.

I have the K90 and am still getting used to it. So far it is nice though I will likely replace the full wrist rest with a full width gel wrist pad as my hands are larger. As for the K90 vs K60, the K90 is not that much more than the K60, so I would definitely get the one with Macro keys and backlighting.

I have the k90 and really like it. It takes a day or two getting used to, the keys are slightly cramped. But overall a really good keyboard, and in USA probably relatively value or money as well 🙂

Hmm, you may have a point about backlighting! I know where all the keys are anyway! Although if I was to make use of the macro keys I would need to find them

How do you mean you are still getting used to it?

Why not go with the sidewinder?

Never heard of them. Do you have one?

I personally liked the Browns that were in the Quickfire Rapid Pro I picked up, though I personally didn't like the styling of the K60 or the K90 to begin with.

There is apparently only 10 pounds difference between the K60 and K90 in the UK, so on that grounds the 90 is probably worth it. It's certainly a pretty nice keyboard, it's a shame they cheaped out on the keyswitches for the auxiliary keys.

Personally, I prefer the more traditional layout and styling of the Das Keyboard, but I agree with BTRY B that the Cherry MX Red used in the K90 is superior to the Browns/Blues that are used in the Das.

Try search for corsair keyboard reviews. I'm quite sure the k60 and k90 were review and discussed in several threads at AT by their new owners.

I recently picked up a k90, although I have only used it for a couple of weeks I really like it. While the keys feel great it took me a while to get used to them (coming from a microsoft natural 4000), the keys felt a little cramped and I hit keys that are next to each other. The windows lock key and volume wheel are great.

There are two things that bother me though, first is it will repeat a key stroke like the key is stuck (very rare only 2-3 times since I bought it), the other is (a personal preference) but I wish that back light could be set lower, at the lowest setting it still seems bright. Overall though I think this keyboard is very good.

How do you mean the the key stroke repeats? Is it because you press it down for too long? I think that can be changed in control panel somewhere

I have one and I love it, it replaced a non mechanical razer kb and I can honestly say I will never go back to non mechanical. The backlighting is really nice, I find I just leave it on the lowest setting even when the room is fully lit and the windows button lock key is a nice feature. The media playback keys work as intended and the volume rocker has a nice feel to it.

Pretty much 10/10 as far as I am concerned.

No, it's not from holding down the key. Google "Corsair k90 repeating key", there are a few posts on Corsair's forum regarding this with responses from their rep. Supposedly it's a rare issue that will be addressed in a future driver or firmware update. But it's a rare issue so don't let it deter you from buying the k90 because it's a good keyboard.

Cool, I am strongly leaning towards it! 😛 How do you find typing on it?

Also, what Razer kb did you have?

Ah right I see. There have been a couple issues with the backlight not working on some keys too. 😱

I'm considering getting one of these, currently onl £90 from Ebuyer, but can't help thinking that as we approach the first anniversary of this unit Corsair may be about to announce a successor.

Does anyone have any information about a new version upcoming? It'd be a shame to buy this one only days before a full mech version with improved backlight was announced...
