So far I was able to get my processor to 2500 MHz @ 1.45V (didn't want to go above that) with a load temp of 43C. With the stock heatsink.

But I'm testing this Corsair VS RAM (2x512 DDR400).... right now I'm at 230MHz and it doesn't show a hint of instability at 2.5-3-3-6 running 2x Prime 95, 3dMark05, and PCMark05!

I wonder how high it'll go...

Now I have the CPU at 2500MHz (250x10, 1.45v), the RAM at PC166 (208MHz), and HT at 4x and it's breezing through Prime95 at 41C.

This would be a much better OC than I expected out of totally stock components... now if it carries over to the X-QPack I have coming in I'll be one happy dude. I wonder if my 6800GS will OC this well :D

If anyone is curious the stepping on the X2 3800+ is CDBHE

Nice memory OC. My sticks also go to about 210 only. I just have them underclocked for better timings instead.

Amazingly... I have one chip that runs 250mhz over 24hours of memtest and prime 95 ...
My other corsair vs runs 215 and my 3rd chip runs 220 ...

wierd thing is ... it'll run higher if you put one chip only... and for me ... in slot 1
in slot 2 i can't get my high chip to run stable at 250
in slot 3 it doesn't boot @ 250

One core quit during the night at 2500MHz. I put it back down to 2450 instead of raising the voltage above 1.45v, so the mem is at 204MHz.

I'm moving everything to a new case (X-QPack) with a new video card (onboard video to 6800GS) and will test the CPU and RAM again, starting from the beginning.

I'm just tossing all of this out here because I know I'm not the only one OC'ing a 3800+ and I know the more threads I get to read on the subject the better, so someone might appreciate it :)

OK, moved everything to the QPack and installed the 6800GS.

Had to redo the CPU voltages to get it stable again, probably due to the new power supply not being quite the same. Finally got it stable at 240, 10x CPU, PC166 (comes to 200MHz/DDR400), 4xHT, 1.425v. Weird thing is that I wasn't able to get my HTT above 250 no matter what the other settings were (6x CPU, PC100, 3x HT mult).

The 6800GS detected its optimal frequencies at 530MHz core / 1.8GHz RAM!!!! I turned them back to 500/1.1 (compared to 425/1 that's stock),

PCMarks before OC: 4559
3dMarks before OC: 5108

PCMarks after OC: 5363
3dMarks after OC: 6120

Running Prime95 all night.. if all is well in the morning, woohoo! I'm quite impressed.

That's what I'm talking about... Good work! no reason to empty out wallet for top of da line performance.

Ran Prime95 alongside MemTest for Windows all night, then three straight loops of 3dMark05 this morning (while two instances of Prime95 and MemTest were running).

I just bought some Corsair VS ram a week or 2 ago, and it overclocks like crazy too. I hit 245mhz memtest and prime stable. It posted at 250mhz, but didnt make it to windows no matter the volts I gave it. Seems like the latest batches of it are good OCers.

Hey, CDBHE is the same as my x2 3800's stepping. 2500MHz is where my chip quits, too. I've got Corsair VS, too, but I think mine tops out at about 220 MHz. Good deal
