This memory is always around $65-$70 per 512 mb stick.

Often newegg's one day sales are for like $1 off.

This is good memory. I've got a pair running dual channel on a P4P800 Deluxe with no problems. Oh, and I didn't buy them in a dual channel kit, I got them separately.

I use them on my Epox NF3 939 MB (forgot the name), although I needed to use memory divider as my FSB is set at 265MB.

I have a question about latencies. For somebody running a processor at stock speeds, would CAS 2.5 RAM allow a computer to run faster than CAS 3.0 RAM? I'm asking b/c Corsair makes 2 different speeds of their value RAM, 2.5 and 3.0, and some retailers carry only 1 or the other. If it makes a difference, let's just say we're running an Athlon 3000+.

Technically yes the lower latency would make for a faster computer. But in practice, no, it's barely measurable.

You probably wouldn't notice the difference between the two, but there is a small difference. If they're the same price, might as well get the lower latency stuff.

THeres an awesome thread in the CPU / Overclock forum about memory and the Socket 939 Athlon 64s. Basically, even really crap cheap ram at around PC3200 will do just as good as $300 ram. The athlons perform no differently with more expensive ram.

So, this is THE ram to get if you're getting a new 939 system. Just don't overclock at 1:1 FSB/Ram ratio. It matters nothing for performance. You can still hit 2.6 GHz processor speed, but keep your cheap ram at stock speeds and there's maybe a 1% performance difference.

heres the memory matrix thread

I wonder if I am allowed to post the coupon code here, since the coupon was originally posted on AT Hot Deals by moderator

Bad news is this memory is sh!t.... 242 errors into the second pass on the memtest.... now I have to pay to send this crap back

not a good impression for Corsair....

I'm going back to Geil..

Hmmm.... That sucks Cruez. I hear there's some kingston around here for $100-$110. Maybe that's the better option.

I got one today

the reputation of a brand should be based on a pattern observable over time not on a single instance or an isolated experience

there is no single product from mass production made by man that will not have a few defective sample

the reviews I have read so far are good

I have also heard some bad experiences from a few kingston users but that did not stop me from buying kingston and guess what? mine worked just fine

Mine came today and ran fine for 2 passes(over 30 minutes) of memtest. That's good enough for me.

It can be your motherboard too. You might try alternate dimm slots. I got a freaky 3rd dimm slot so I can't do the usual slots 1 an 3.. it runs but causes errors. Slots 2 and 4 work perfect. Go figure. You might want to run individual tests on each stick too. There's more info at asktheramguy.com (Corsair's tech forum)

Good luck.
