Corsair value select - did I make a mistake?

I just bought a new system and got the best of eveything I could (X2 4800, 7800gtx). I have a feeling I chinced on the RAM though by buying this:

2048 MB (1GBx2) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY(Corsair Value Select)

my mobo:
(Sckt939)ASUS A8N-SLI nForce4 SLI Chipset SATA RAID Dual PCIE MB w/Gb-LAN,USB2.0,IEEE-1394,&7.1Audio - no intent to overclock as of yet.

Can anyone tell me if I am going suffer much by getting my RAM on the cheap? Still a little uneasy with all the timings and how it affects performance. Plus I can't really find any real reviews on corsair value select's 1 gig sticks. Didn't think it was that important till after the fact (or is it?)

shouldn't affect performance significantly, there is a thread with benchmarks in the cpu forum stickied

Corsair's a good manufacturer; I use their VS stuff

See that thread in CPU; timings don't matter too much, especially on an A64

The only hindrance the VS will offer is overclocking when trying to stay 1:1. But as that linked thread shows, running with multipliers and thus lower than 1:1 will not affect performance unduly on an A64 system.

Bottom line: Corsair VS is an excellent choice.

4800+ / 7800GTX

um, well... Corsair Value Select isn't bad at all, but to me it is glaringly out of place in your system. If it's no trouble to return it, do so, but if it's any sort of a hassle, I wouldn't bother for a few frames in games. This DDR500 matches your system better. The X2 chips can make use of a lot more memory bandwidth than before, so the difference might be more significant.

Thanks peeps,

This was my first real computer away from DELL. I did not think ram was that important so I maxed out on the CPU and GPU, and got plenty of ram - 2gigs. I did not know anything about timings and DDR speed. I just thought ram is ram. It is too late to change the order - it is on its way now. Just wanted to make sure I did not shoot myself in the foot with a cheap product. So long as I wont take a performance hit I will be OK with that, and maybe upgrade later to better sticks.

Will check out that link

I've used Corsair VR in several systems with zero problems. My guess is that once you fire up the X2-4800 and 7800 you won't even remember what RAM you used. :)

Exactly...you have a kick ass system. Just enjoy it. You don't need to overclock at this stage of the game. Play some games and have some fun. Then, if you feel inclined, do some overclocking.
