Corsair Value Ram...

bjc112

Lifer
Hey all, i am building a Nforce System here soon with a 2200+...

I was wondering if CORSAIR MEMORY 512MB PC2700 VALUE would be capable of hitting 200 + FSB...

Trying to fit this under about 130 at a max... Was also thinking of some Kingston Value ram if that is half decent!

Let me know!

😀

Thanks

Not sure about corsair.

Well thats good to know then... Thank you.

Anything about Corsair anybody?

Corsair in general is great ram... their value series is decent... not the best for overclocking. Mushkin is also some very good ram. How much ram are you looking for? 512mb? 1gb? Also, another thing to point out, if you are getting a newer nforce2 chipset, get two sticks of memory... pc3200 is your best bet. It is rated to run at 200mhz. Then find out what cas rating you want... I suggest Cas2, but if you are pressed for money... cas2.5 would be fine...

oh, and the reason for getting two sticks is because it is a dual channel motherboard.. to take advantage of that your best bet is to get (2) identical sticks of memory.

hope this helps...

Thanks for the help MSI,

I am going 2x512 for the dual channel reasons.. I know that PC3200 is rated higher but ya know some pc2700 ram can hit half decent speeds..

Granted this 2200+ might not even overclock well i think i am going to risk it and get the Corsair value ram.

Anyone with some of this memory that can let me know...

You'll end up using the worst timings, if it will run at that speed at all. The rated timings are already 2.5-3-3-6 at 333MHz. For the extra 15 bucks per module, why not just get the PC3200?

I think i am going to have to try and swing it, i was trying to fit it under $130.00 but i'll scrape some up...

😀

Thanks guys..

Well i think i am going to dish out the extra money for the PC3200....

Unless someone tells me something positive about Corsair.
