Corsair TX 650W or Seasonic G550W for Haswell build?

Hey I'm planning to build a Haswell system and I can't decide between these two power supplies..
TX 650 pros:- More wattage, Longer CPU power cable, cheaper
Cons:-80 plus bronze, non modular
Seasonic G550 pros:- 80 plus gold,Modular
Cons:-lesser wattage, costlier, considerably short CPU power cable
My build:-i5 4670k+hyper 212 evo, 8 gb ram,msi z87 g43 mobo, 1 tb HDD,
XFX HD 7870
What I want with a PSU:-
1. Better efficiency
2. Will last longer for future upgrades (ssd, gpu, HDD)
3. Better build quality
4. Would not be a pain for cable management
5. Will handle my build easily without any issues

Thanks in advance 🙂

I would highly recommend a modular PSU, so in this case, I'd definitely go with the G550.

Both PSUs are more than powerful enough for your build, even if you overclock a good amount. As an example, I have a i7-2700K @ 5 GHz plus a heavily overclocked GTX 670, and under heavy load my system is only pulling about 300-350W from the wall on a Kill-A-Watt. Heck, the fan on my X-750 doesn't even come on most of the time because there simply isn't enough power draw for it to come on. I've owned a TX650 in the past and while it was a good PSU, the lack of modular cabling was a huge pain.

I'm not sure if the G-series Seasonics have the abililty to turn off the fan at low loads like the X-series, but if they do, that's another good feature if you want the quietest system.

For a 7870, 500W is plenty. 650W could run two 7870's which your motherboard doesn't (fully) support.

Are you buying from newegg or where?

I am not planning to do crossfire or SLI but I wanted to can this 550w PSU handle a single HD 7970 or a single gtx 770?
No not from newegg, I'm in India and buying from flipkart.com

I would get the Seasonic, they are much better quality than Corsair (Even though most are decent) plus you have modular and gold certified. If the price isn't to much more go for it as you will not need to change it for 5 years and should even be okay to carry over to a new build later on.

Don't cheap out on your PSU. That is ONE part you should never ever do that on. It always worth it to spend $20 to $30 dollars more...or even up to $50 on a better one. As long as they last their cost over time will pay for themselves. $30 bucks more over a 7 year span is nothing. So yeah, of those two I'd recommend the Seasonic one.

Buying a Corsair TX isn't "cheaping out". Seriously, what?

Seasonic S12II 520W costs two thirds of the TX650 and would handle your setup fine.

You are right. The Corsair TX is a good power supply. I worded that post badly. I was just saying I would go with the Seasonic between those two because I think over time the extra efficiency pays for itself as the unit runs cooler and should last longer. Just my preference.

Go with the Seasonic 550W, it could actually run on less.

I'm actually using the Seasonic G 450W and have an HIS 7870 in my comp (all stock currently, see sig for the details) and just did some power measurements. My build idles at 72W and was just running Crysis 1 at 230W, which puts me nicely at 50% load when gaming where efficiency is best. That's the power draw for the tower itself, not my monitors or anything else.

I'm not saying the TX650 is bad at all (my old system uses the v1 model), but Haswell is fairly efficient and you could add a second card if you really wanted to with the Seasonic. A 7970 or 770 could be run just as easily.

Definitely don't cheap out, like someone else said. Keep in mind how long you plan on using it too, and what upgrades you might add while you have it.
