Corsair rant, my advice, avoid them.

I only buy Logitech KB's and mice. I naturally associate Logitech with them plus they've bee around forever so they must be doing something right.

I use one of their wireless lighted keyboards that I've had for over a year. It's been flawless and the whole thing lights up uniformly and perfectly. It's performance is also flawless.

I had a Corsair K90 and upgraded to a Corsair K95 a few months ago, and I've never had a LED die on me. Perhaps it's just the K70 models that have problems? Although, I normally leave the LEDs off....

It's true that it seems everyone is getting in on the action when it comes to mechanical keyboards.

I trust Corsair, though and they are a good brand, however,. they aren't known for keyboards.

PSUs, Cases and RAM is what I've grown confident of Corsair for.

Keyboard wise, well, LEDs for me are a gimmicky thing and distract me from what I'm looking at on the monitor

Buy a Filco Majestouch 2/Ninja keyboard or WASD or maybe Ducky, but again, I don't like the LED thing, they'll just blow...eventually.

At the OP.

Your post about Corsair, after seeing your video, is highly reactionary and your language is unnecessary and doesn't help your cause. Also, the fact you're willing to bin your 120 pound keyboard makes you seem rather detached.

If the build quality of their product is such that a second replacement is issued with the same problems then I'd imagine you'd be rightly justified to ask for a full refund.

Seems like Corsair will help but if I were a business and one user came bashing me due to his reactionary and unhinged views that, although could have substance, did it in a way that you had done then I'd rather not do business with you.

If I were Corsair in this case I would probably issue a recall, paid for, for a product that does seemingly have an inherent quality issue.

You say the F word far too much, OP, in that video. It's ridiculous. I have no sympathy.

What really gets me is that you've had one bad experience and you even say that you enjoy Corsair's products yet you attempt to disgrace them in such a way that you end up coming across as a shouty, inarticulate hypocrite and that just defeats your whole purpose here. Which is a shame.

I have been building computers since 1983. Corsair is excellent.

If you don't live in the US, you WILL have hurdles with almost any RMA.

I think most of the issues with great companies are due to user error, a random experience or foreigners.

Not to mention so many of these types of threads showed us that the OP in them never really picked up the phone to call when they had toll-free support.

I had to RMA Corsair products a few times. It's really rare. Memory and a PSU. While my current memory is not Corsair, I have one of their PSUs and ordered a second one for my Father; in my dad's recent 3930k/RIVE/512GB SSD/770GTX build Antec had a better PSU. I think it was their HCP-1200. It was definitely 1000+ watts and gold certified and modular.

I watched your video now. Apparently, you felt the need to disable comments.

This is the answer.

Corsair customer service has been absolutely top notch in my experience. Though I have no experience with their keyboards (Logitech all the way), I'd never hesitate to buy anything from them. OPs experience is not the norm, people. Do your own research.

Also, OP, grow up. Your crap whiny video is crap.

Wrong. I used many RMA services who's standard proceedure is to simply ship a replacement product and pick up the defective on on their dime. Not whos customer services informs you that you're LUCKY enough to get free shipping from them. Corsair are a joke.

Your comments are not relevant to my experience, the video is to demonstrate my experience with corsair and their support department.

I never said it was the norm, I did calculations to clearly show that based on the rate of returns they have and number of people having to repeatedly RMA the same products over and over and over and over and over again, show a strong statistical trend that a lot of these keyboards are faulty.

I cited my sources and show my math, none of this has been disputed. I also said not to take my word for it, go and look on their support forums, look at the number of people with issues and run the statistics yourself to get a good idea of what proportion are failing. Certainly don't take my word for it, go and do the research yourself, it's what I've said all along, if you've got a brain and can basic statistics you can easily estimate the death rate for yourself.

21 LEDs have now died on this keyboard in a seeming random pattern which shows the build quality is just terrible, absolutely terrible.

so I'd recommend sticking to a Manufacturer's main line of products. Although I like Corsair, I'd not pick them for a keyboard choice.

Also it would behoove you to learn a manufacturer's RMA rules prior to purchasing their products, if you have so many choices overseas that do free RMA's; I'd stick to those brands.

Hmm, same experience with me. Their forum, that's just horrible, what is so laughable that when I posted about my problem with my M60 without even bothering to ask from where I am they just gave me a coupon number. I mean what the frak, there are 195 other countries other than States!! Anyway, then I found that there's a local service center here (Kaizen), I am located in India, and submitted the mouse there, and got the replacement back in 10 days. I can't believe the OP had to ship it internationally :O
Now coming to the quality of the product, it's very much below average, the M60 mouse. The only reason like many other people for me to buy Corsair over a Logi or MS was their brand reputation. The first mouse, while unscrewing their unbelievably dumb screwing system to remove the weights something broke, gone to do RMA, came back, SC guy said 'you tampered the product'. Very fine, sent an email to their Indian support email id, they said to submit the mouse again. Got it after a week, same infant weight screwing system, compromised, every other day while turning the PC on the USB cable had to be unplugged/plugged to get the mouse working, compromised, then last week the idiot died, plain simply died. A four and a half month old mouse, DIED. Submitted to RMA again, will get it back after a week or so. I will not use it anyway, as I have moved on to other brand. But one thing for sure, I will NEVER recommend a Corsair mouse or Keyboard to ANYBODY. I don't know, I have a TX650, four 2 GB XMS3 modules and CPU fan of them, I just hope those things stay good, especially the PSU. Learnt my lesson about going for a brand, you can't just pop up from anywhere and master in something.

I had one dealing with Corsair, a stick of RAM got bent during shipping due to UPS incompetence and had to be RMA-ed . After claiming to have never received the RMA (thankfully I had proof of delivery) they jerked me around, lied and passed me from department to department for months. You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so I never bought another one of their products and never will. The products might be okay, but the service was dishonest and completely unacceptable.

Glad I found this thread. I was ready to bite on the G70, but it looks like Corsair may have come to market with this model too soon. Looking elsewhere for an MX Blue backlit.

Some companies are better at one product line than another.

I'd buy any Corsair PSU in a heartbeat, especially if the price was right. Keyboard? Not so much.

Same goes for many other hardware companies. Good at something, terrible at something else.

Wait... I don't want to watch your whole video, but I have a quick question (and I own a Corsair K90 and M90)

Are you complaining about having to pay for shipping back for the RMA? If so, that is pretty standard for any company. You pay to ship it back, and they cover shipping of the fixed or replacement item to your door.

Any company with that RMA policy won't be getting my buisness. At least if there are reasonable alternatives. (in this case there are)

It's not that it's an entirely unreasonable policy, it's just that many companies DO pay for shipping both ways. Why on earth would you use a company with the former policy when those with the latter exist.

I was gonna buy a Corsair keyboard as well. Have you decided on one yet?

I was thinking about the logitech mechanical keyboard.

Well, that's entirely up to the person buying the item, but I usually buy the item with the features that I want. I don't worry about RMA routines because I rarely need to RMA anything, and EVERY company has bad reviews on the net.

in this case the standout feature is the mechanical keyset, and it just so happens every manufacturer uses cherry keys - so there isn't much to differentiate products imo

It's not that simple, actually. The Corsairs have multimedia controls, a USB port. And the higher-end models are backlit and have programmable macro keys. I looked at many mechanical keyboards and it was hard to find one that has multimedia controls, which are a must-have for me.

Read the thread and you'll find out that that the lights are failing at a very high rate and that UK customers have to pay for international shipping for an rma. That doesn't sound acceptable for a brand like Corsair which should be doing a recall.

I have also noticed that rma service varies once you are outside of the US. There is one company that I've had terrible rma service from and that is HIS and I will never buy from them again.

I just hope my K90s lights don't start going out.

While I had my K90, I had no issues with the LEDs. If this is a rampant issue, it seems to be limited to the K70.

I don't think I'm terribly surprised as Corsair does seem to have some quality control problems. My 900D case has problems that cropped up only days after owning the case such as the bottom-front door that will only close if I lift up on it or the rear panel that takes way too much force to remove and makes a god awful scraping noise while doing it. The pegs for the drive trays also have rust on them, which makes me wonder where Corsair got them from. 😵 Ultimately, that's the problem with premium products -- when you pay a lot for them, you expect a lot out of them. If I pay $350 for a case, I don't expect it to malfunction only a few days into use.
