Corsair Ram Problem HELP!

I have a 2gb kit of Corsair xms2 pc2-6400c4. My Mobo is the Gigabyte p965 ds3. I turn on the computer and the fans run and the hardrive spins but I cant seem to get a Display on my monitor...I tested the monitor and video card (which work just fine). My friend had the same ram as mine (which works in his system with an asus board) and I plugged in one of his sticks and it still didnt work. So i was thinking maybe its my Mobo or CPU. But someone told that most likely its my RAM and its not compatible with my system. Gigabytes website says it supports my memory so I'm just confused?????????? I read a post about the 2.1v memory being a problem with some mobos. I need help badly I'm am stressing out over this. Give me some advice.

Are you getting any beeps from your motherboard? Did you reset the CMOS?

I not get any beeps. It just doesnt display anything on the monitor when i turn on the comp...the fans and hard drive spin but no display. I tried one dim and then the other and still no display. My friend is telling me since the mobo defaults at 1.8v and the ram defaults at 2.1v...the mobo doesnt accept my memory. He says most display problems are with ram. I never had this problem before...and dont know if hes right. what do you guys think? And how do I fix this problem! If I cant get a display how do i get into bios and make it 2.1v! I do not know anyone with a 1.8v ram dimm. and i do not want to buy one and find out it wasnt the problem. grrrr. Is there a way to flash the bios with a updated version with 2.1v....without seeing a display? Some external way by plugging something into the mobo? I am just throwing ideas out there..(i'm sure there isnt(|)
 
The memory has the proper settings in SPD to allow it to boot at 1.8v so that should not be an issue unless your MOBO has a VERY old bios on it from late summer/fall 2006. Gigabyte resolved this last year.

Is there a local computer shop or buddy that could help you post the board, memory, and CPU?
 
i bought this boardoff of newegg. Newegg claims its Rev. 1.3 but on gigabytes site it says rev 1.0 rev. 2.0 and 3.3...so i'm guessing my mobo is an older model.

I have the same problem with 5400 XMS ram, on an ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium MB.

The system has been up and running for ~6 months. I started getting random BSOD with no clear indications of the problem for the last several weeks. In an attempt to fix these I tried all the usual fixes, updating all the drivers, running system burn ins, diagnostics, system benchmarks etc.

I ended up formatting the HD and getting Vista as a last resort... It installed fine and everything seemed to be ok (achived an overall score of 5.3 based on the Hard drive being the bottleneck) but the BSOD were still occuring

I've pulled everything but the CPU off the board and the system will still not POST, just lights and fans. Installed a POST card into a PCI slot and it sets the FF code which is either MB or CPU. The card also checks the PSU, I also had software logging the voltages and they were stable so that isn't a factor either so I am in the process of getting an RMA# to send the board in for repair.

Hopefully your issue does not resolve into something similar, goodluck!

So my friend had a stick of 1.8v ram and I tested it on my board and it didnt post a display. So it isnt the Ram. It has to be the CPU or Mobo. The thing is i bought the CPU on eBay retail boxed sealed. The guy doesnt have the receipt. If my CPU is the problem will intel let me send it in for replacement without proof of purchase. On the sticker on the side of the CPU Retail Box it has the prod. Code, MM#, FPO/BATCH #, version #, and at the bottom right corner it has Pack Date 2/07/07. What is Pack Date? Does this Date provide me till that date for warantee?
 
Ok so I tested my cpu and it works, tested my ram and it works, tested my vid card and it works! and so I believe it is the mobo. I was wondering I have the Tuniq Tower installed. This thing is huge. Tuniq Tower screws into a backplate and on the back of my mobo where the cpu is located there are pins...I was wondering if maybe the backplate shorted out my board. the backplate had a sticky insulating foamy thing but I'm thinking maybe when I screwed the heatsink into the backplate it screwed on too tite and causing the backplate to touch the pins. Cuz when i was screwing the Tuniq in it seemed to go on really tite...I figured it was supposed to go on that tite cuz the spiral screw wasnt all the way down yet so i tightened it till i couldnt see the spirals. I tried using my stock HSF but didnt post. Could a backplate destroy my board?
Well I'm RMAing my board right now. Would it help if I used electric tape all over the Tuniq's backplate? I wish Tuniq mounted with push pins like the stock hsf! GRRRRRRRRR
 
Have you also ruled out your power supply (just in case)? I went through a nightmare swapping out a DFI mobo since it condition gradually deteriorated to the point I was in your shoes: turn it on, fans spin (and don't slow down), lights come on, but no display or activity.

Swapped out the mobo w/an identical one, and the same problems. RMA'd the Antec TP480W Blue, but purchased a Corsair 520W PSU (got a good deal) in the interim, and the system booted up just fine.

Just something to check - it'd be easy to swap out PSU's and see if your system boots then.
