Need to pick a power supply for my new build. Looking for 450-650 Watts. I need a PSU that has cables long enough to accomodate the 800D. The 8-pin ATX power probably will be the most challenging run.

I'd rather not use extensions, only for last resort.

Thanks for any input...

I don't know of any PSU that has cables that are longer than standard. The Corsair CX500 I'm using is already a stretch in a Corsair Carbide 400R. You could use extensions like Bitfenix Alchemy, adds length and eye candy.

Try checking if the AX650's cables are long enough, since most PSUs with long cables will have more or less the same cable length

I found on Corsair's website (PDF) that says the AX650's is 650mm. That is the longest I have seen.

The Seasonic X-650's (which I was going to buy) is 570mm. Looks like I might get the Corsair AX650, unless another quality PSU is available with a longer one.

I've been using extensions in my hair, o wait, wrong thread. I've been using extensions on my Enermax 950 Revo to accommodate my 800D.. for meh maybe around 2 yrs and haven't had any problems at all. rig2 insig

I grabbed a Corsair AX650. I'll see if it will make the stretch Monday (if UPS delivers it on time).

Do the PSU manufacurers sell extensions or is that done by a third party company? If I need one, I don't want to go cheap.

Thanks for the replies. :)

I can't imagine any other way of the extensions being cheap as being a smaller gauge strand or low quality shielding.

I bought some 3rd party generic extensions for my Enermax CPU 8 pins and they've been fine :whiste:

I ran the 8 pin from my Corsair TX750 in my 800D and did not need an extension. The run really wasn't as long as I thought it would be. I actually bought an extension and didn't end up needing it.

UPS should deliver the AX650 tomorrow. I'll test it out and see (even though I still haven't bought a MB yet).

CoDLolCopter, those are for a full set of modular cables. No lengths listed, but probably the same as the included cables. No extensions available. $90 a little steep too.
