HI All

Ive been putting off building a new computer for over a year. I purchased 2 sticks of crucial 2100ddr memory back then. Now that Im ready to build a machine I find a few motherboards that I want but only use 2700 ddr memory. I dont play games or overclock. Do you guys think I ought to find another motherboard that uses 2100ddr or do u think that these new boards that use the faster memory will be worth it. Also, What do u guys think about the Corsair value ram? I read an article about the corsair value ram 2100 ddr and it performed alot better than PNY and Kingston. Its performance was close to Crucial. The Corsair 2700ddr is on sale for 55.

thanks in advance

I was under the impression that boards that accept PC3200 are backwards compatible all the way to PC1600.

My KT333 based board supports PC2700 (166mhz DDR) and I am running PC2100 (133mhz DDR) in it without probs...it detected the speeds automatically.

What boards are you looking at that only *require* PC2700? If you're going the AMD route and don't plan on overclocking, just pick up a 266FSB AthlonXP and you can re-use your PC2100. If you're going the Intel route, I'd go for faster memory as the P4's like as much memory bandwidth as possible.

As for the Corsair value ram, it's pretty good stuff. I have two 256mb sticks of it and even though it was rated at CAS2.5, I'm able to run it at 170mhz DDR @ 2-2-2-6.
