i'm planning to get an epox 8rda+ mb and a 2500+ Barton processor for my newest build. I'm trying to figure out which memory to buy but a little confused. I'm planning to overclock to the "normal" OC speeds for this processor, so I'm looking to get some good 3200 DDR ram.

There are two types of Corsair RAM from newegg I'm looking at, but cant decide which is better/worse or if they are the same.

CMX512-3200C2PT - 512mb module, silver heat spreader, organization is 64m X 6
CMX512-3200C2 - 512mb module, normal heat spreader (i think), org. is 32m X 8

what is the difference? is it just the organization of the chips on the module? which one is better or are they the same? are these good modules for this combination? I just wanted to make sure before i start ordering. RAM is very important so I want to make sure I get what i want/need.

Thanks!

The "PT" stands for platinum. If you peruse the Corsair XMS module website you will see that under PC3500 RAM, they list a black C2 part as well as a platinum C2PT part. Other than the heat spreader, the module is identical. I would say the same would hold true for the PC3200 modules.

What about the organization? Why is it listed differently if they are the same modules with a different heat spreader? I checked out the website and noticed the same thing, but no mention of the organization. I though the organization was the same on all modules of the same type of RAM, except for the amount (512mb vs 256mb). Thanks for your reply Tetsuo.

My guess is Newegg typo. Email them to make sure. As Corsair lists them though, there are no differences between a PT module and a regular module. Email Corsair too and let them know about Newegg's possible typo.

Buffalo pc3700 is only $99 at newegg, and the crucial pc3200 which performed favorably in the tweaktown review is $98.99

Thanks for the links, guys. $200 for 1gb sounds much better than $250 or more :) I'll check those out when i go to order my parts this week or next.

Those results from tweak are interesting, considering all other benchmarks ive seen comparing dd4 3200 and 3500 ram, corsair was on top in everything...and crucial was like in 3rd-4th place...
