Corsair Memory Problems

Hello. First post here. I have a AMD XP 3200+ system with an Asus A7N8X-E motherboard. I recently installed Corsair XMS TwinX memory modules in a dual channel configuration, and my computer started crashing with the blue screen of death (Windows XP). Sometimes, the game I'm playing crashes, but not the computer. I tried the recommended timings from Corsair, and slower timings, with no change. So, I RMA'd the ram and got it back tonight. I installed it, same thing again:|. Surely the ram can't be defective again, but my computer runs fine on Kinston Value Ram also in the dual channel config. Any suggestions, or am I unlucky enough to receive defective ram twice?

Ram in question: Corsair XMS TwinX1024-3200PT DDR PC3200 512MB x2
null

Ram that I'm currently using: Kingston Value Ram DDR PC2700 512MB x2

Run memtest...it might just be the timings or something.

Memtest will tell you if it's something like that.

I've never had a problem with XMS, plus they're factory tested... is your PSU giving you stable voltages?

I have the same mobo and using TwinX1024-3200C2. You CANNOT use default SPD memory timing with this memory on this mobo. Corsair has a page with exact settings they've tested their memory on various mobos. The page is located here: http://www.houseofhelp.com/v2/showthread.php?t=38150&highlight=xms+qualification

If I use default settings then the system BSODs.

I use the following settings according to their recommendations and it's rock stable:

Testing parameters for TWINX3200C2:

TWINX1024-3200C2 Data Sheet
TWINX512-3200C2 Data Sheet
Motherboard make and model: Asus A7N8X and/or Asus P4C800/-E and/or Abit IC7.
Each pair is tested and packaged together using the following settings:
DRAM Clock: 200 MHz
SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5 on AMD platform)
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T
SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T
SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T
SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4 Bank
All other settings are motherboard defaults.

I tried the voltage thing already. I,ll try the Bank Interleave thing and see if it works.

I plan to run Memtest 86 later tonight when I go to bed.

Thanks for the quick reply!

SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4 Bank

This setting dosen't seem to be in my BIOS. I updated to the 1013 BIOS revision from ASUS's website. I looked under advanced chipset settings, where it should be, but it isn't there. Is it named something else, or am I missing something?

My corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 runs fine on my ASUS MoBo at 2.5-3-3-6 without a problem.

You know that on an AMD system it is meant to be run slightly slower than intel. On AMD, it should run at "2.5-3-3-6" i think.

I didn't think so either. I found some threads at random forums discussing major compatibilty issues with my motherboard, processor and ram combo. Nothing I tried would keep it from crashing. I bit the bullet and got a better motherboard and processor, a Gigabyte K8NS-Ultra 939 and Athlon 64 3500+ Socket 939. Funny thing is, the processor comes up as a ClawHammer in CPU-Z...

I just wanted to say no more problems with my ram. It's running fine with the Athlon 64.
Thanks for all the help:)
