Corsair HX620W vs ThermalTake Toughpower CableMan. 700W

Hello,

Which one would you recommend?
Corsair HX620W for £80 or
Thermaltake Toughpower 700W for £70

They both feature modular design, 600W is plenty of power for me and I would like to get a PSU that is as quiet as possible.

How do Corsair and Thermaltake compare in terms of quality and reliability overall?

Any other recommendations in this price range that can beat Corsair and Thermaltake quality wise?

Thank's a lot for your help and suggestions!

Thank's.
And how would you rate Corsair VX550W vs mentioned HX620W? VX is significantly cheaper but I was thinking about the performance/noise/quality issues. Are they comparable? I know that VX is not modular and obviously a bit less powerful but I think I could live with that.
What do you think?

But theoretically, shouldn't Thermaltake with it's 140mm fan be quieter than Corsair? I know that as important as fan characteristics and size are it's speed control but the bigger fan should make less noise.... I suppose. Or is the difference between 120 and 140mm fans negligible?

All fans are not created equal like you mentioned. I don't know about fan inside the TT PSU, but the Corsair HX series is pretty much at the top of the performance and noise (or lack of) charts. Check out www.silentpcreview.com for more information on quiet computing.

Just to keep the thread up to date - HX620W is on its way.
So it looks like Corsair has just received one more vote.

What system are you building? I'm still trying to make up my mind as well on what power supply to get. I'm looking to build a Q6600, undecided mobo, 4GB RAM, two 8800 GTS (G92), two DVD Drives, two SATA hard drives, and fans with the normal extras. Would a 620W be ok for this build or should I look elsewhere? I want to stay with modular and also keep the price around $150 or less if possible.

for dj:
my system has x3210 oc to 3.2 Ghz, p965ds3 3.3, 8800gts 640MB, 2GB ram, 1 raptor 74 GB, 2 500GB HD, total power out of wall during 3d mark 06 is 212W. can 620 w handle your need, I thnik so. I have corsair 520 watt psu.
For the dual video cards set up, it will draw more current on 12 volts line, but your total power will below 300watt, so any good 600 watt psu will be fine.
I personal recommend corsair or pc power and cooling.
