Corsair HX520 PSU

Would this run 4GB ram, p5Q deluxe, e8500, 4870x2 and a couple of HDDs? If so I'm am so in for one.

Wow these things are still $80? I bought one like two years ago for $80 AR, then I bought another like 10-12 months later for $80 AR....

Pretty damn good PSU's btw.

Ok I used that website to check what wattage I need it calculated 533. And it didn't have an option for a 4870 X2, only a 4870, so it would probably need even more than that. This probably isn't enough for me then.

Can anyone confirm if this power supply will work with an EVGA 8800GT video card? If so, I may jump on the deal.

If you are running one 4870x2, this is probably more than enough. Those online power calculator are never close to accurate.
In fact, I am running a similar setup as you do.
E8400 (Overclocked to 4GHz), 4GB DDR1000, P5Q, 4870x2 and 3 HDs.
I measured the power draw during a 3Dmark session and it comes out to around 380w~400w.
Take into consideration that's the power draw directly from the outlet. Therefore, putting in the power supply efficiency factor, which is usually 80%. My computer was probably drawing close to 320w actual.

Therefore, unless you were considering adding another 4870x2 down the road for CrossfireX. This 520w good quality PSU is more than capable to power your system.

An Antec Earthwatts 500W couldn't juice up my rig, similar to yours except with a Q9550 on max. It would die during stress testing or "real testing", which was during gaming sessions on Supreme Commander with 4v4 maps. I had to beef up to 650w to keep stable with mine. Your milage may vary I guess, since quads suck up a lot more juice than dual.

Note I always push my computer to its max and game on max settings whenever possible, so my fans are also jet engines. Probably a ton of power draw all around.

I run two of them with it overclocked which means they use more power. This PSU is one of the best there is don't miss out.

I never knew them to make a 750 modular. I thought it was only a 520, 620, and 1000 (all HX series).

can you believe AlgaeEater would buy a q9550 and run it with a 20$ 500 watt earthwatts antec.. AlgaeEater is funny.. 80 bucks seems decent for this psu.. anyone have problems with the fan not cooling enough? im tempted to put another 120mm right under the other fan for more airflow..

Has anyone had any luck signing up for the rebate pre-registration for this PSU? The form they require you to fill out seems bugged...
