Corsair H50--self contained liquid cooling

It's exactly like the Swiftech Compact H20, which is a decent competitor (Apogee GT Drive w/ MCR120). Kind of like Coolit's products. It's a decent idea but in no way a entry into watercooling. If priced at $60, it'd be decent, but otherwise I'd go with an entry watercooling loop or an aircooler.

IMO its too small for overclocked quads. I cant picture the radiator size and coolant being adequate for longterm heavy usage.

This cooler is designed to replace high-end air coolers at about the same price.

Attach it and go!

I'll wait to see performance numbers but high end air coolers can be found for $20-35 nowadays (i.e. xigamtek s1283 or sunbeam core contact). Hard to compete with that.

I saw a pic of it doing prime on a 920 at 3.9 with 1.45 v and it was 15 degrees cooler than a true. It was posted by the corsair rep and supposedly true. (no pun intended!) As cheap as it is I will have to try it myself. I scored a 975 that does 5GHz on air but gets too warm for my tastes so it's running at 4.6 for now.

there is no way ANY 120x1 unit including the swiftech micro, can pull 15C cooler then a true.

And i mean NO way.. Even if you were to step one up to a 120x2 you would need GREAT fans in push pull config on a GTX class radiator to pull 15C cooler then a TRUE.

They borked the mounting on the TRUE is my guess.

Save your money... seriously.

astek is a junk company now.

And so is that product.

The old nautilus500 was so much better. You got a DDC.

Hard just put up a preview where this thing loses to the TRUE. They basically recommend using this over the TRUE only if you have poor airflow in your case

Yep.

Why would they recommend pulling the air IN the case? Who does this? Talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater!

He was hitting TJMax on two cores with 1.4/3.8 ROFL. Also using Prime95 blend!

I think corsair wanted ambient temps to hit the rad rather than warm air from the case hitting it. They probably didn't care that all the hot air got into the case, they wanted to get the lowest numbers possible.

i can sniff out bad water products fairly well.

Trust me... this is not a great product.

If u cant invest in a custom h2o setup, just stay on air. Your wallet or purse / time will thank you.

This.

Not once have I ever seen a water cooling configuration that came pre-configured from a company be any good. Always buy every part separately and put it together yourself for the best results.

Here's my results, temps slightly lower then my fenrir but alot quieter.
Case temp 25c
2 fans exhausting, stock fan pulling a Noctua fan pushing (not optimal as Noctua is a few 100rpm slower then stock fan but doe's lower temps over just having stock fan)
I faffed about when fitting it too so the thermal paste (used MX-2) distribution might not be great.

Someone over at HF put the H50 in a SG03 SFF case and it works fine he claims. If you are familiar with the SG03 the front can hold two 120mm fans. In the space where the top fan normally sits he put the H50 (fan, reservoir, radiator) in there and still could fit the second 120mm fan under in the second fan spot.

Post # 12 shows his set up
