Will this work to help me get the best overclock possible on my Abit AN7 motherboard and Athlon 2500+ rig? Or should I grab something else?

Also, I always hear people saying "I'm running this PC2700 at PC3200 speeds! Yeah!" How do you do that?

According to Corsair's website, this is Value Select memory, so don't expect it to give you "the best overclock possible."

Newegg's selling it for $83.00. Read some of the feedback/reviews on Newegg to see what other people's impressions are on this memory. From what I've read, it seems to be pretty good stuff. The SPD of this memory is 2.5-3-3-8. Not too bad.

Well, I bought 2 sticks of this memory, but sadly one of them turned out to be making the errors in the memtest-86 tests and Prime95 torture tests. RMA-ed bad stick already, and now I have the replacement back. The new stick did just fine in the same memtest tests, and together with the old good stick they ran in Prime95 for over 7 hours without a single error 😀.

I was going to go with a CAS 3 of another manufacturer, but decided to try this CAS 2.5, with my ASUS K8V SE motherboard - my first experience with AMD processors. No issues, or problems of any kind, - performance is great.

Got 2 sticks of this for my Asus k8v, amd64 system. It seems to work great (~3weeks). I am giving it only a 4, since I have not tried any overclocking yet.

Now if Asus would get my BIOS back to me, I can memtest my memory and find out if I need to replace it. This stuff sounds good. I got the Mushkin Basic Green elixir stuff in there right now.

i have a stick of the pc2700 512mb value select and took it up to 394MHz. was a great overclocker. i'd pick this up if i had money.

For maximum overclock/performance you would probably want to look at some high quality pc3200~pc4000. This ram has overclocked well for some and others have barely been able to bump up its speed. If you o/c the cpu and run it sync'd @ 200fsb it should run stable and give you a decent boost. But if you really want to max your o/c and fsb you may want to look at Corsair XMS series or Kingston HyperX and the other higher end / high speed performance ram.

I would go with the Outpost one, but i need two and dont feel like going through the hassle of sending one to my dad. Good deal though 🙂

Cool... Im leaning towards either these or Crucial for my Asus K8V.
 
Anyone pairing this up and getting it to work with hyperthreading? Asus is really specific on what memory can be used. Right now I'm looking at a paired PC3500 1GB kit from Kingston for $300, so this obviously looks much more attractive.

Both are good choices, as I've owned memory from both. Did have to RMA one of my Crucial sticks after three years, but it was hassle free. The Corsair on the other hand have never failed me. 🙂

I'm guessing you mean Dual Channel? It *should* work fine, as I'm using Corsair Value in Dual Channel mode on my NForce 2. Some boards are picky however.

Hehe, i had a stick of Crucial go about 2 months ago and it was the easiest RMA i've ever had to do. Crucial earned a customer for life by being so nice...
 
frys has this deal a couple (6?) months ago. got me 2 of em (3200s) and they both work great. no problems even with overclocking.

DOH! Yeah, I meant dual channel 🙂 The Asus P8P800 has a specific list of memory that works on the board. I'm afraid to try anything else.
 
If you're in vicinity of a B&M Fry's - just wait a bit longer for this. Last week they had OCZ PC3200 512mb for $59 AR. The weekend deal was this or the OCZ PC3200 for $69AR - so it'll prob drop again to the lower pricing. Maybe for both even.
 
I've been happy with the stick of 512MB Corsair I got from Newegg when I put my new system together a few weeks ago. I'm really tempted to pick this up.
