Are you using onboard video? If so, you don't really need a 500w unit either. But to answer your question, the one you picked is fine. The Corsair CX430 would be fine too. Or one of the Antec/Seasonic 300-400 watt units is fine as well.

The CX500 does have 2 x PCI-E connectors, http://www.corsair.com/es-es/builder-series-cx500. Just wanted to include that for clarification.

500 watts if more than enough to run that spec, hence that CX500 you chose is a perfect fit for that build.

It's way oversized for the OP's current build, the CX430 Temjin suggested would be more appropriate... (unless the OP was fixing to add a GPU.)

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I ordered 500 watts but Corsair 550 watts power supply was sent to me. What should I do now? Should I return it or just plug and start using it? Kindly let me know.

Did you order a CX500 and you received a CX550 or other model?

Keep the 550, not that much different than the 500...plus it gives you plenty of headroom for future upgrades/higher spec'd builds :)

FWIW, I have the CX550 in a very similar build to yours and have absolutely ZERO issues with it. Plus I also have 2x SSD's, 5 fans, and an R9/290 GPU in addition to everything else you listed....

I wouldn't return a CX550 for a CX500, but I would have chosen a CX430 for your system, even with one GPU it's powerful enough.

was going to say ...

also, 500w is not "oversized". it's slightly on the generous side, and going below this is risky because both A: cheaper psus tend to be poorly made, and B: poor guy might want to buy himself a video card, at some point.

question: what kind of "problem" are you having with your coolermaster psu?

I'm totally with you on that, CX430 is adequate based on the OP"s spec. Perhaps there's a part of me just wanted assume that at some point, adityasrinivasb will be adding a GPU in the mix down the road, and I think a little headroom wouldn't hurt at all :)

Err that's bull. The CX430 and CX500 are the exact same line. I don't see how one is more poorly made than the other. The 500 is absolutely oversized. Just because he "might" want to buy a GPU later doesn't change that (and the 430 can power a fair variety of GPUs).
