I know that I've seen this PSU in use with the fans facing up but in my Coolermaster ATCS 840 case if I try to install that way the screws don't match up so I had to place the fan facing downwards. My case does have a filter on the bottom of the case but it just seems weird to me can I get some assistance.

pictures I am seeing and reviews I am reading, show it should have a filter for the PSU intake...also show that there should be screw holes for facing the PSU either way. As long as the PSU fan has access to air then it doesn't matter....although if you don't have a filter...I would contact Coolermaster to get one.

Thanks I do have a filter and the bottom of the case has access to air because its grated so it can pull cool air from the room and blow hot air out via the exhaust fans

no problem all is good, it just seemed wrong to face the fan downward. I guess it would be wrong if the bottom of the case was solid with no access to air.

Mine is oriented with the fan facing down (upside-down style case with the PSU mount and vent holes on the bottom).

I looked at pics of your case and it has a filter on the bottom which means that you CAN put the fan facing downward pulling in air from the outside of the case. Some cases that have the PSU on the bottom don't have any way for it to pull air from outside of the case so they have the fan facing upward and pulling in air from inside of the case.

You could always make a mounting bracket. Affix the mounting bracket to the case and the PSU to the Bracket. All you need is a Dremel, drill, rounded file, and a piece of sheet metal.
