corrupted quicken file

Im working on a freinds computer and he is running quicken 2003 premiere and windows xp pro. When you load up his quicken database, everything seems to work fine, but when you try to go to the security view it says quicken was unable to complete previous task please restart quicken. and i press OK, and it gives me an error about memory, and then i hit ok on that and it closes quicken. It did the same thing in windows 98 before i installed xp pro, (i even formatted the drive). This is why i think it is a corrupt quicken database (because the only thing.
Does anyone know of a tool or a way to fix the quicken database? Cause this is just a pain in the ass and it would suck to lose all this information...

Is the data file from a previous version of Quicken? I had a similar problem and had to patch it up in the previous version before upgrading. Don't know if that's the problem or not here.

i was from a previous version, but i fixed it. I followed the steps from http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/w_corruptdata.html and it works great now
