Corrupted apps install and reinstall questions

Hi all, recently I just got a mabbook and am very new to MacOS. So I did a reformat and install and do software update for everything. Then when I try to open iTune, it said that it's corrupted. Do I just download iTune and run the installer?

This question leads up to this. In windows when you install applications, most of them put some kind of info (installation, dependency files, etc...), so it would be bad installing the same application in multiple folders and mix up the links. Does this applies to MacOS?

Thanks,

You can download the latest version of iTunes (with an 'S') here. You should first get AppCleaner and drag iTunes to it (before you reinstall) and it will eliminate all (if any) extra stuff.

There are 2 ways to install applications in OS X;
1: You download something such as firefox, it comes in a .DMG, that mounts and you drag the stuff inside (namely the thing.app item) to your Applications folder (in the side bar)
2: It has an installation wizard like in Windows, it acts just like you are used to.

With the first option, it generally will only be in the Applications folder, but there might be additional stuff in your user's library. With the second there almost certainly will. Regardless, everything is in the Applications folder.

AppCleaner scours your drive of extraneous files, and you can then delete things completely.
