Had some RAM go bad which resulted in XP Pro not being happy at all. Had to repair the install using the CD. Computer now boots but can't get XP to accept the new drivers for various motherboard related items and doesn't recognize the Athlon 64 driver.
I've tried removing the devices in the device manager, installing the correct drivers from the CD. However, as soon as the computer restarts it reverts back to the drivers that weren't working and ignores the ones installed from the CD.
This leaves the computer somewhat crippled. Applications run but I can't get on the internet since the driver won't take in XP. I can print and run programs and have my external hard drive be recognized and all that. I just can't get the drivers for some of the integrated peripherals to load.
Is a reformat the best option here?
