Corrupt Video

I got a problem with my friend's video card. Whenever the mouse cursor goes to any text box and changes to text cursor around the cursor is a box of horizontal lines. In BF2 there's a buncha tearing and what looks like a huge wall/spike going across the map. Sometimes there will be super long "extentions" on the player model's gun. Any ideas?

Sounds like it may be a bad video card. If another similar video card works fine in the system, then it's the card.

When testing it, make sure the video card or system isn't overclocked, since you can get all sorts of weird video corruption when something is overclocked too high.

Make sure the video card fan spins when the power is on and that the heatsink is attached properly. It could be overheating.

If you don't think it's the card, be sure you have the latest drivers - video drivers, motherboard/chipset drivers, and latest motherboard bios.

Good luck with figuring it out!

well I just reformatted and it didn't start having problems till after he isntalled some new ram. I took that out and then reformatted. It's continuing to have the problem.
